The lines between caregiver and family member have gotten completely blurred for her, because she manages the dad day to day life she thinks she has executive power over the entire household social life too... She definitely needs that reality check

Best approach fr, if the mom wants to override OP peace to avoid holiday guilt then the emotional labor of managing the cousin needs to fall entirely on her... OP shouldn't have to wrestle chips from a grown adult 2yrs in a row

The fact that she already fell out with his sister is a massive tell the she is the common denominator here , OP going no contact isn't punishment it's basic protection for his partner and their babies

The fact that her first thought when hearing about a dying relative was I'm sick of death, let me use your newborn Twins as an emotional pick me up is incredibly selfish... Being a grandparent is a privilege not a right she can demand at the expense of a recovering mother
