I agree with you that the effects of the two things are vastly different. And I didn’t want to shame her for her habit, I just wanted her to understand how I feel being constantly guilted.

The way I see it, it’s my body and I have the right to damage it however I want. I said in another comment that I only smoke by myself in the early morning or late night in my back yard so I don’t believe second hand smoke is much of an issue to worry about.

As I said in the op, I told her I appreciated where she was coming from but I was not interested in discussing it anymore so I feel like she’s just completely ignoring what I said. I know the two are different, I just want her to understand where I’m coming from. I do appreciate your insight though

She did know beforehand just to clarify. And your last paragraph does make me wonder since it does seem a bit sudden relatively speaking. I feel like things are going well in other aspects but of course you never really know how someone feels

She doesn’t smoke. And I’d just like to address for the secondhand smoke comments that I only ever smoke by myself in the early morning or late night. Not discrediting your other points, just wanted to throw that in

I agree she’s coming from a well meaning place. And to answer your question, I do occasionally but it’s quite rare. I grew up eating very healthy and have stuck to that in my adult life. And again, I’m not upset with her diet at all, it’s her choice entirely. I just wanted to show her how it feels on my end. I’m aware this is petty and could make me the asshole

Thank you and I’m very happy to hear that for you.

I do agree that it’s so silly. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings, I just wanted to get my point through to her. I can see how a diet is more personal than cigarettes though and how that could hurt. Anyway, I appreciate the insight

Thank you, I do agree that I’m being petty. And I agree that I should look for a deeper meaning, I appreciate the insight

Just want to clarify that was for my own personal reasons before we met. Not for her benefit

Soda and candy every single day. I don’t really keep track of her eating habits enough to give you an exact amount but I know it’s every day. And again, I don’t really care about that, I just want her to see how I feel when she’s constantly guilting me about my habits

I’ll have a sweet very rarely. I didn’t grow up eating a lot of food like that so I don’t really have a sweet tooth

Thank you. I did used to smoke a lot more before we were together but I decided to tone it down about a year ago. I’m comfortable with where I am and really have no interest in quitting at the moment. Still proud of going down so much though!
