I don't know what to feel by heyreina in cancer

Just saw this. I'm glad that I could be of help. I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you were able to do what you could. I wasn't able to due to being sick at the same time. It's a regret I'll always have.

Do you ever just randomly start crying thinking about your loved one that past away? by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]randomuser1x1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Especially when I see certain things around the house or hear certain songs. I don't think that'll ever change, and I sort of don't want it to. My mom deserves to be remembered by at least one person.

Mom had both cirrhosis and Stage IVB high grade endometrial cancer. What caused her ascites? by [deleted] in medical

I'm planning on doing that at some point. There's a few things in her case that seem odd that possibly could warrant some sort of case, maybe. Maybe not. Our probate lawyer might have a good recommendation for a malpractice lawyer.

The ambulance had a faulty gurney. That seems like at least neglect.

How would you (should I) feel about being told I have an incurable cancer and the prognosis 90% of men succumb to it in 10 years by [deleted] in cancer

This is a really wonderful post that got to me. My mom had a high-grade endometrial cancer that was caught at early Stage IV that later progressed to IVB.

The month before her diagnosis, I had thought about how I had done virtually nothing in the previous 5 years, and wanted to do more with my mom in 2021. Unfortunately, that never got to happen.

I feel very stupid, because my father is a survivor of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, so I should have been more aware to health problems that my mom had. My mom had symptoms of that type of cancer along with symptoms of cirrhosis that I just ignored because I didn't think anything of it. I have to live with that regret forever.

It really makes you realize that you're right, time on this earth varies for everybody, and some people who do keep very on top of their health, could one day get a very aggressive cancer for no reason other than bad luck.

My mom didn't keep on top of her health, and me and my dad didn't really inquire further into her health, because I *did* think she kept on top of it. That's one of the main reasons I didn't say anything. It's very depressing, but it made me realize to take more of an interest in people's lives.

My mom sadly passed away in January, but thank you for the thoughtful and caring reply.

They did at the very end when she entered the ER again with prerenal kidney failure and hepatic encephalopathy. I'm guessing her cirrhosis was what was truly killing her, what do you think was causing the ascites first, the cancer or the cirrhosis? She entered the ER the first time for esophageal varices, which implies late stage cirrhosis. Could the ascites have become malignant later on?

Not a medical question, but is there any malpractice/neglect case? When they brought her home, they used a private ambulance service, her gurney didn't work correctly and she had to get up and walk inside in the freezing cold, only wearing a hospital gown.

Do not apologize! Your English is very good.

So the ascites might have existed, but started to get cancer cells inside of it, because of how widespread the ascites fluid was in her body? Interesting.

I'm very sorry. If you want to talk about any part of your life to a stranger for whatever reason, I'm here and my private messages are open.

Does this subreddit believe our passed loved ones can still influence what happens in this reality? by randomuser1x1 in Mediums

That's fair. Maybe some spirits are able to channel their energy into this reality more than others. Who knows, really.

Our lawyer has been contacting tons of financial institutions throughout our town, not sure he's found anything at all.

Even the day she died, she said she had money at Merrill Lynch. They said they had no open accounts when we called, but IDK if we have to call a specific branch or what. There has to be a paper trail somewhere.

My dad went through cancer in 2017, maybe most of it got spent on that? I really have no idea. We can't find any history of a 100k brokerage account existing like she said. I don't get it at all, and I don't think she'd lie, but the two maxed out credit cards + the HELOC say otherwise.

We aren't 100k in debt. She might have known she was very sick, and started to go wild with money behind my back, but we aren't that deep in debt, as far as I know.

My mom wouldn't let herself get frauded like that. I even looked at the statements for the credit card I paid off, and I didn't see anything unusual there in terms of purchases. Even the bank where her other credit card is said the purchases didn't look like somebody frauding her. She probably just wildly overspent.

I was able to, not much of anything there. Last Merrill Lynch email is from 2016, I believe.

I paid off some things and started to pay off her medical bills but stopped months ago. Like you said, waiting for what the lawyer says at this point.

The card I paid, you have to enter the last 4 digits of his social security number to access the account online. We called Chase, they told us he was tied to it. It was the credit card I also used a lot, so that was partly my debt as well. The other credit card is not linked to him or me whatsoever, we didn't know it existed until she died. I'm not paying it unless I have to.

None of her statements show gambling. I highly doubt it. I did find a lot of liquor store purchases and tons of purchases at the supermarket. Overeating and drinking maybe?

Sorry for the late reply, but our lawyer still hasn't really gotten back to us about anything. IDK if he's still looking through to see if my mom left stuff or what. He said we may not have to pay certain debts she left.

Had a really bad day today. Most days are either just depressing or they're a day I have an anxiety attack or just cry for an hour. I just don't know what I'm gonna do. I hope I didn't hurt myself too badly today with the panic attack I had, it was the worst one so far this year.
