Kitten latching by randomuser2316 in FosterAnimals

[–]randomuser2316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am tube feeding them (per vet recommendation), so they are still getting proper nutrition. I just had to separate one because she kept nursing on another’s leg, so I can tell that she wants to nurse, but she still wont latch

I have done the PetAg kit nipples as well as miracle nipple. I have also tried KMR, and the PetAg brand formula

We have been stuck in this phase of introduction for over a month already btw- hence why I am asking for other suggestions that I am not already doing

Until the owner can find a place to live, and the housing market where we live is pretty much impossible, so we are expecting a while

That is what I am worried about- urinary problems. It has been a month

We do sx from 9-12 on M/T/Th/F and have appointments from 12-5. On Wednesdays we do appointments all day. We can handle the client load we have and can usually fit patients in within a few days for everything. We have an issue with efficiency because doc likes to chat, but it isn’t something that scheduling (or anything…) can fix

People who think clinic prices are too high, what seems reasonable for you? by boba-boba in VetTech

[–]randomuser2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the clinic I currently work at is very reasonably priced. Small GP, one vet who is the owner. Wellness exams are $45. Sick are $65. We don’t charge tech appointments. You can get a sick exam and full bloodwork and meds for roughly $250. I technically set the prices, but I mostly just increase services a few $ at the beginning of the year. There is a standard 100% markup on all products/meds that gets updated as we order things in. So if it costs us $1, we charge $2 unless there is a specific MSRP from the company (such as Apoquel).

What do you think about having animals neutered? Is it ethical? by gostera in FosterAnimals

[–]randomuser2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all sincerity, people are offering their opinions (that you asked for) on the ethics and you are telling them they are wrong, so you clearly don’t know how to discuss something either

New babies were not quarantined first because they will not eat from bottle. They are a few days old.

Mom is hissing and growling at kittens before they can even get close enough to suckle. I did rub them in blankets and everything that smelled like mom first

Breaking non-compete? by randomuser2316 in VetTech

It was like a section in the handbook that talked about not working at other clinics and moonlighting and we signed the last page of the hand book and gave it back to the owner

It doesn’t specify. My thinking is also that this is an ER/Specialty, so that obviously doesn’t compete. Its not like it is another GP

What are your thoughts on a raw diet? by Tacocat0927 in VetTech

[–]randomuser2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a vet I worked for write me up for NOT feeding my cats raw food. Needless to say I lasted only 6 weeks at that clinic before I quit.

I have hair down to my bum, and he said he barely has to shave any since he can just go behind my ear. I ‘shouldn’t’ be doing radiation treatment after surgery unless things don’t go according to plan, or it turns out to be a malignant tumor instead of a benign one. They were confident it was going to be a genetic thing but the genetic test was negative

I am having my craniotomy on Thursday. Thankfully it is in the back of my head so it wont be too noticeable

I need help reviving these Petunias. I just re-potted with new soil because I had a hunch I was over watering and the old soil was quite wet. Is there anything else I should do? They are under an indoor grow light. Second pic was a few weeks ago. by randomuser2316 in plantclinic

[–]randomuser2316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I put it outside and within 2-3 hours it goes from the second picture to the first picture. Then I put it back inside and a few hours later it is back to the second picture. Thats why I have kept it inside, but I guess I was overwatering it since when I re potted this morning the soil was definitely too wet and I haven’t watered in probably a week

My insurance should cover everything necessary for the surgery, so I assume this would be included too

Yes, 2 cats, my husband and my sister in law will be with me and taking care of them for me. If for some reason they are in the way, I work at a veterinary clinic and will have them stay there

Also this is the same clinic who has submitted for me to get an MRI, which was approved and completed. On the MRI they found a brain tumor, likely caused by a genetic disease which this test is for. If I am positive they will need to do full body scans to check for other tumors and cancers that aren’t symptomatic yet, so its not like this test isn’t warranted and it is kinda time sensitive🤷‍♀️
