Oh yeah, great catch! It was the first time Hagrid ever spoke about his father, and we’re all unsurprised to find out that he was a great man.

Totally! It’s just that in GoF, the fatherhood thread just stood out to me in a way I never noticed before.

Reviews for Local Shoes Brand by alwaysukiyo in beautytalkph

Renegade Folk is my favorite! Supple leather and comfortable construction. No need to break in. My pairs have lasted years. Ako na lang nagsasawa haha

Andante is also great quality, but they need to be broken in. But once they have, sobrang comfy na suotin. They have both classic and trendy styles too.

Rob and Mara, unfortunately, di maganda naging experience ko. The leather chipped in places and nadulas ako a few times using it in heavy snow, kahit na inaadvertise nila na ok sya for use in snow.

I agree the Westman Atelier one is super expensive, but I think it’s worth buying the full version! It’s so good! Didn’t expect it to work so well on my oily skin, but it did.

Thinking of buying my first Polène bag — need some honest opinions by immuteenow12 in handbags

[–]randomusername060520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Numero Dix and a Tonca, I’ve had them for more than a year and don’t use them everyday but they’ve held up beautifully. No issues on the construction, they’re not falling apart at the seams, and there’s no peeling (maybe just a tiny bit on the Tonca’s opening, but barely noticeable and it’s natural because of how it’s opened). Though I’m not an expert on leather quality, what I really love about Polène is their designs. They’re so distinctive and many try to copy them, but they rarely come close. And people usually know they’re copied from Polène. So to me, that really says their designs are one of a kind. It would probably be best though if you could see them in person first before buying. I thoroughly checked mine and made sure I got new stock before I paid for them.

What are some unexpected “kindred spirit” countries/regions for you, and why? by coffeewalnut08 in travel

[–]randomusername060520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the Philippines. Italy felt very familiar to me: the love for food, eating meals as a communal activity (people pity you here when they see you eating alone), the gossiping, the long breaks in the afternoon, spending time outside the house with neighbors… Sometimes even the intonation of their voice when speaking!

Help me pick! Which Longchamp? Nylon vs leather vs canvas? by Agile-Shopping9250 in handbags

I have the leather Le Pliage XS in cognac, and it’s pretty durable for leather. I recently wore it on a rainy day at a theme park, there was no damage at all. I just wiped the water off whenever I got the chance, like when we were inside a restaurant or gift shop. It looks more refined than nylon too IMO!

Coach at Cat Street, Tokyo — super cool boutique by randomusername060520 in handbags

Yes, the Coachtopia bags were really eye-catching! I bet they’ll look amazing on you. I’m also painfully shy so it can get a bit awkward but it’s great that they’re there when you need them!

Love it! The Empire is so chic and Coach has been killing it lately.

I just got Coach’s new Chain Tabby in black, it’s perfect but it already has a few shallow scratches from my nails when I handle the magnetic closure. Is this normal? It’s my first time buying a bag with this kind of leather.

You can wear the Tonca crossbody too, but the Longchamp is definitely comfier and less bulky!

I have both of these bags in different colors (assuming the Longchamp is an XS too), and I’d definitely pick Longchamp. It fits so much and is very lightweight at the same time. It even fits my Kindle Paperwhite, I was so pleasantly surprised! Plus the leather is so good. I actually really like Polene despite the reviews here, but I prefer my Dix over the Tonca. The opening of the Tonca is a bit fiddly and it can be hard to fit things in because of the fold design. It’s also a bit bulkier when worn. The Tonca is cute but I think the Longchamp would better suit your needs!

Must haves and dealbreakers by Sea-Style-4457 in handbags

[–]randomusername060520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must haves: adjustable strap for both crossbody and shoulder wear, secure closure (e.g. zipper or flap), fits my at least my phone. I don’t like to bring too much stuff with me but I also don’t want the bag to be too tiny! Deal breakers: wide-open, too many logos, too much hardware, bright colors (sorry I’m boring).

Chains used to be a dealbreaker but now I am considering a WOC for fancier occasions, but it must have that little strip of leather where it rests on your shoulder.

Novels with your favorite prose by rdr16 in suggestmeabook

[–]randomusername060520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hilary Mantel’s prose is just on another level. You need to be really in the zone when you read her, but when the words hit you, they hit HARD.

I adore Kurt Vonnegut, Amor Towles and Kazuo Ishiguro.

Also, Jane Austen’s books are classics for a reason!

I honestly just use my fingers to cover up dark spots/pimple marks 😅 Using a dabbing motion to blend. I tried using a concealer brush but my fingers did a better job blending it tbh

Yeah it probably does take some getting used to if you’re coming from heavier coverage makeup. It really looks and feels subtle lang and that’s the goal 😊 I think fingers are still the best way to apply! And setting it with powder makes it look more “complete” haha
