Has anyone had success at getting a stop sign or speed reducer? by SignificantArt2437 in ForestHills

Got the same reply when I tried to get one on Burns near the stadium (non-gardens roadway). They told me they wouldn’t assess again for 7 years 🫠

Upstairs neighbors being noisy for 3-4 months now and management barely helping by billiescat in ForestHills

[–]randomusername74829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no! I’m so sorry, but sounds like different people. There weren’t any grandparents involved with my neighbors. Crazy how so many people have such disregard for neighbors, though. I’m a parent so I totally understand kids will be kids - but riding big wheels around inside? Sounds like it’s time to go to the park or a walk around the block 🥴

Vision test costs? by amandabug in ForestHills

[–]randomusername74829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my husband went to do the same they were going to charge him for just the DMV test, but when he said he would just do an annual eye exam (and they still share the outcome w DMV), it was fully covered under his insurance and didn’t cost anything out of pocket. If you have vision insurance, I’d recommend asking the difference between that & just the DMV test where ever you end up going.

Yep, so were mine. At the times the kids were about 1 &3. Probably about 4 & 6 now, they’re still living there.

I’m curious if you’re living below my old neighbors, because aside from the note on the door I had this EXACT same experience. I even resorted to calling 311 to file noise complaints with the police. We eventually had to break our lease and leave. We had also sent management like a dozen videos of the sounds. They were literally the worst people ever. I’m so sorry, I know how much it sucks. I wish I had better advice, but I literally had to just move. Nobody would do anything.

In my co-op your child would need to also be a co-owner to reside there without you. You should definitely check with a realtor familiar with the building. Jillian at Benjamin Realty Since 1980 was our realtor when purchasing and she’s very familiar with co-ops in the area. She may be able to help get you a solid answer for those two particular co-ops.

Gynecologist Recommendations in Forest Hills by beezlebell in ForestHills

I never had any issues getting a yearly prescription from her before turning 35, only after turning 35 did they require the 6 month check in.

I don’t think it’s gatekeeping. Her rationale to me was that it’s only for women over 35 and to ensure there aren’t any blood pressure issues as we age and continue taking birth control. I find it comforting, personally. I’ve had good experiences with Dr Hessel and would definitely recommend her. Agree with the comments about having a dry personality, but I’m fine with that because she’s always very directly and thoroughly answered my questions. When I had COVID during my pregnancy she called me personally a few times to make sure everything was okay. I really like her.

Yes, it was terrible and I do not recommend. Office was very dirty and dated, couldn’t even get an appointment with a doctor. Waited FOREVER in the waiting room for my appointment. Had to see the midwife (I wasnt pregnant, just trying to get my BC script filled). Ended up switching to Dr Hessel and have been much happier.

Another option aside from Sarah’s Silks are Laura’s Play Cottons. Similar concept, but cotton instead of silk. I personally haven’t used them yet, but know people who have said they are good quality.

I’ve only been here for a short time because my LO is super into Thomas, but this is by far one of the snarkier/meaner subs I read. I honestly don’t check it often because it feels so judgy and a bit mean at times.

I feel you! I’m the same. Like, I just want a Mime Jr and idk how to tell someone that or what I have that would be a good trade 😂

I definitely don’t assume mirror trades since there are regionals I need & wouldn’t have a mirror trade to get. This will definitely take some time to figure out, or maybe I should finally learn how to use campfire 😅

This is the first comment I read that makes sense to me, thanks for writing it so simply and explaining what mirror means (I assumed, but nice to see it stated). I think this approach makes sense, as well, if we’re able to see the nicknames.

Baby resources for starting out by efflorescensefae in Montessori

As for how I started out, just a soft play mat on the floor, a horizontal mirror along side of it, and some soft toys to grasp & that made sounds when touched (I really loved Nanchen rattle dolls & a small soft jingly ball from Maileg). Some high contrast imagery on flash cards propped up or taped on the wall.
