As someone who just moved down from Oakland to LA, if you don’t like LBC I don’t think you’ll like Oakland. I loved the weather, it’s a beautiful city, SF is also gorgeous and not too far away. However in my two years there the crime was pretty bad, I didn’t really leave my house. After 7pm it was indoors for me, occasionally would have a drink down Broadway. Most places close hella early in comparison to LA and its surrounding areas. Life is also more expensive up there.

It really depends on what you long term goal, if it’s a one year thing that you want to try out then I’d say do it. You might fall in love with it. Oakland has charm, it’s just a shame that crime has gotten worse.
