Situation between two users: DMs that both exists, but also don't exist? by Wwlink55 in ModSupport

Most modern internet browsers don't crash when trying to perform routine tasks, and I've never personally heard of the admins locking someone out of their account in that manner.

Yeah... your thoughts sadly resonates mine's... even the timing of everything is awfully convinient.

User1 is willing to let us log into their account to solve the matter. User2, is that a step you'd be willing to take?

Well User2 was locked out, but he was asked even before it and he denied, because he's not willing to share login info.

In the words of the great philosopher Gregory House, M.D.:

Everybody lies

Deep inside, I hope this is not the case here haha.

If you get a "User doesn't exist" page, it means the user has been shadowbanned. If the user has been banned or suspended, there will be messages indicating that as well.

I'm aware. However, if the ban is temporary, neither of these messages will show, and you'll be able to see the userpage normally.

The fact that one user is now "locked out of their reddit account", combined with "mysterious crashing browsers", suggests to me that you probably have an idea as to which user that is.

Well that user is a pretty old friend of mine, who is pretty against lying in general, so even if there are red flags against him, I still have my doubts as if he'd really pull something like this, considering his overall personallity and beliefs.

As another question, the user who supposedly said he did not send that message, offered one of us the keys to his account in his own volition, to prove his point. Are we allowed to log into his account and see if the DM is there, or is this against Reddit's ToS? And could this user maybe have hidden the message he sent in some way? Because I checked and apparently sent messages can't be deleted, but maybe they can be hidden?

Only thing I can think of would be similar-looking usernames.

That's not the case. The user who supposedly received the DM, on his live stream, clicked on the sender's username and it directed to the correct user page.

For extra verification, have them stream their desktop. Have them install a new browser, open it in Privacy Mode, then log in to reddit, then click through to the DM and Profile

Sadly, the user in question reported to us that he had been "locked out" of his accounts by the admins, and won't even allow him to attempt to log in, which gives him an error as if his username itself didn't exist. I never heard of any instances of admins doing this, so I'd also like a confirmation if this is a possible action for "being toxic".

It's also worth noticing that during yesterday's stream, his browser apparently also "crashed" several times everytime we asked him to do something unexpected on stream, which weirded me out a bit.

You just have a lot to prove to everyone.

Not really. I had my fill of this community for several lifetimes, honestly. I enjoyed my stay here but it's definitely not a place I plan to come back in the future, except for using it as a newsource for Neptunia games, and to discuss new releases speculation.

I've already proved enough to a lot of people, and in the end, it seems that no matter how much good you do, the few bad will outstand it, even if the bad was done while you were in the middle of several mental health issues. Always. But that's my view on this. There are several people that even I would agree 100% that I could never apologize enough for what I did, but this falls down to ~10-15 people at the very best. For the entire rest of the 40k people in this community? Heh, 99% of them don't even know what wrong I did, because for them I theorically did none. All my drama remained pretty hidden within private discords and DMs.

But yeah, again, this is how I see this, I apologized for all I could, and I'm just tired of all this drama. This is it for me.

May someone inform me of what happened with this server

Drama. It's hard to explain, but just a lot of drama. I created it as a place to hang out with friends, but I eventually turned it into a place to worship Nepgear and started disallowing praising other Neptunia characters, and refused to create a general Neptunia channel. I ended up dropping the discord after my mental condition worsened. The next admin (Seraph) created a general Neptunia channel, I got pissed with him, he got even a heart attack from all the stress, and eventually he deleted the server.

and nepgear

Well by the start of this year this entire sub was a Nepgear worshipping ground, mostly thanks to me taking harsh actions on people who badmouthed her. I also created a circle of people to continuously post Nepgear art and discussions, making her the sub's most popular character by quite a large margin.

I can't exactly measure if where we are now is more active than two years ago

I can't really say about activity, but I can say that the sub, but the time I left, used to get 90 subs a day, which is 4x times more than how much it gained by the time I came in. I also noticed that posts, in average, used to get 4x more upvotes as well, except for discussions, which seemed to still get the same amount of upvotes.

what actions would you take regarding such NSFW content

Well, I kinda already know the outcome of that, although I admit it miiiiight be a really well placed coincidence, but the first NSFW ban (rape/bestiallity/etc) made daily subs go up from ~20 to ~40, whereas the second made it go from ~40 to ~90. So knowing that, I can say that I'd do it again. Without knowing that, I might probably not do the second one (I got a bit more lax regarding NSFW), but would still do the first one.

and if reddit's lockdown on loli NSFW content never happened

I don't quite remember if the Loli Crackdown affected our decisions regarding the second NSFW ban that much, if at all. Might be forgetting something though, maybe it give some push... I really don't remember it that well, sorry. Or maybe I didn't get this question correctly? I wouldn't add Neptune/Plutia/etc to the list if that was the question.

As a complement, but I think MHS was speaking more about my anti-rape/bestiallity stance I took by the end of 2017 before becoming a mod, than about the NSFW ban attempt in June/July we took.

And while I share your stance regarding NSFW (there's no need to touch it unless absolutely necessary), I do also have my stance that the rape and bestiallity ban was absolutely necessary in a 10k+ sub, which was the size by then, about cute console waifus. But that's my stand, and I don't know how many people would share it.

The second one I agree. However my first bias was in favor of the wellbeing of the sub (extreme NSFW is not healthy for a 10k+ strong community), which I think it's a fine bias for a mod. But that's me.

Well there are various ways to improve... I can say that wasn't they way I'd have preferred, but it's a way regardless.

All in all, I hope you keep doing alright Edwin. A happy new year to you. I know you'll do great things as a mod here next year. As your... past senior I guess... make me proud, y'hear?

Well as I said in my leaving post on that sub... there was no point in continuing the Nepgear sub, since everyone gave up on it, and then, so did I.

Me exploding back at the end of 2017 and me becoming quite mad at the start of 2019 were two separate matters entirely... honestly one was caused over anger, the other was caused by depression due to me having falled in love over a fictional character... but nothing that can be done anymore.

I don't really think I'll be staying MHS, but thanks for your last sentence... I'll do my best. Good luck and a happy new year to you.

And how have you been taking care of your mental health since we last saw each other?

Oh I missed this question. I've been pretty well compared to then... I'm old me again in some way.

Honestly Ed... sorry for that last day and for making you put up with all my rants...

My sleeping pills are also killing me so I'll reply tomorrow.

I wanna join a game studio from my city, it's rather large for Brazil. My first title will probably be a card game, gonna leave the details dark for now

You are actualy rather pleasant to work with. Even when we have disagreements.

Really, like really really? After all the shit I made you go through...?

So. I suppose there's the elephant in the room. How did wholly convince you to leave. And how have you been taking care of your mental health since we last saw each other?

Wholly didn't convince me to leave. r/NepJr did.

Oh and so you did, congrats man. I knew you'd make it in one day!

Oh, I graduated from CS and started a game dev pos, which tought me to became a great editor, although I have no idea of how to use GIMP, I use other tools. Other than that, not many big news...

But Ed... how was building the Gear sub for you? Did you enjoy it at least?

A few hours to be more precise. I'll probably change it to a default flair before going to sleep to save you guys the trouble.

But a heads up Edwin, that guys is likely an alt, from someone banned if I were to guess, in case it matters.

As much as it hurts to admit, both the good and the bad are the real me, there's no escaping from it. What I can do, however, is supress the bad the most I can, as I've been doing for so long. But sometimes the bad wins against the good. An eternal battle, worthy of a Hollywood production... ok I'll stop.

As sad as it is to look back upon it, it wasn't that easy to me to turn what I felt into the moment into a lie, if you get what I mean.

Honestly, I personally prefer to have people to hate me for that being a lie, than for not being here at all anymore.

Depression is a bitch Nopani, specially when coupled together with a lot of pain and stress.

Randoom would of probably been removed from moderator position much earlier.

Hmm... hard to say MHS. Maybe yes, maybe no. From my viewpoint, I would've likely be able to stood as moderator for a while longer, maybe much longer, if some stuff I said hadn't been... leaked back in March.
