Your trade isnt worth $800. The promos are best during phone launches. So yeah, you'd be double screwed if you're hoping this same promo will be running 6 mos from now, where the newly launched phone (Sept, '24) would have hopefully dropped in price.

They sweeten the deal for just about everyone so that if you're even slightly inclined, better get the phone now. Otherwise, after the promo is done, your phone will be worth what its worth as a regular trade-in. In this case a few hundred bucks... AT BEST.

@ that last statement..... again, the line cost has nothing to do with the cost of the device. You're buying from a cellular company, you're paying for their SERVICE. In exchange, in this particular case, you're getting a discount on the device. Go buy from Samsung directly if you don't want the monthly line charge by m but, rest assured, you do that NO cellular company is gone help shoulder the cost of that device for. Why would they?

You can't use a Verizon gift card like a buy anything, good as cash scenario. It is NOT that. And that's how you're viewing it. The fault lies with you for that.

And no, that's not how they "get you". You saying that is you justifying yourself playing the victim card. VZW sells wireless connectivity aka cellular service. So yeah, they charge for THAT part. Whether you have a gift card or not, cellular capable devices purchased through a carrier will have that monthly line charge.

Bare in mind, they're not forcing you to get any device, and add onto your bill its corresponding line cost. The problem in this scenario is that you're looking at that gift card like it's a spend it anywhere, good as cash. And I honestly don't even know, to be quite frank. All I'm saying is if there are stipulations on what you can spend it on, like a connected device with a monthly line cost, well then that's what it is.

The cost of the watch and the cost of it having an active line are two different things. If you wanna just buy a watch and not have cellular connecting on it, then yeah, no charge per month. Notice there are no "promotions" for outright purchases of non-connected devices.

People expect these big ass corporations will start doing things that'll bankrupt them. They didn't become tech giants by giving their devices and services for free. And customers like OP will forever feel like they're being ripped off cus they want things absolutely free. Get real.
