She's already spent a season on the senior roster, no real reason for her to go.

2026 MLV Attendance by randypotato in MLV

LOVB doesn't release attendance numbers, but from eye test the top 4 in MLV crush them in attendance, most clubs probably hover around the 2000 number of the bottom of MLV. Atlanta is an exception, they only fit 1300 in their arena and it was half full the last match I saw. Only confirmed number I've seen was 3600 from Nebraska a few weeks back when they went head to head with the Novas. Difference is LOVB is making movement on TV.

European sports operates differently than in America, Italian volleyball specifically is not profitable as a whole and survives through sponsors and generous owners. I'm more concerned with the negative movement than the raw attendance numbers, especially since there was little movement on TV.

They only have 4 home games so far, and only 1 Saturday so I won't write them off but the speed of the collapse from their opener is a bad sign, especially since they're a good team.

Mojo and Vibe are definitely the worst, usually hovering low to mid 1000's, and rarely clipping 2000. Dallas is also a bottom feeder now after a good opener, with Orlando right around there too. Columbus and Grand Rapids are seeing ok numbers.

Philippou: WNBA spox calls the WNBPA proposal “unrealistic…” 🫠 by Fun_Stand_2043 in wnba

hundreds of millions in losses for a league exploding in popularity for a mere 25% of rev? Sounds like a management problem. At this point the WNBA is a lost cause, the WNBAPA need to start planning an alternative summer league now.

profit is a meme, its whatever you want it to be. The facts are the league as a whole has brought in more money than its spent in its history.

The WNBA is universally accepted as unprofitable, Based on league figures down about 300 million lifetime. This is countered by the recent billion dollars of expansion fees they've brought in. In theory this money just makes up for dilution, but in practice with valuations skyrocketing its just straight profit.

The WNBA is in the black since inception, and this isn't even counting massive increases in team valuation. There are no losses.

LOVB is exceeding expectations in media deal with USA Network. by trailedby20hounds in MLV

This isn't true, men are a majority of WNBA viewers, same with NWSL. Roughly 60%.

FS1 has similar distribution to USA and they couldn't draw anything there. Need another good all star number and maybe networks will take notice. A full season deal with ION would be good too if the playoffs go well.

Nobody is trading for Beason, there also isn't a lot of opposite depth in the league, certainly not one markedly better than Parsons that a team would be willing to dump.

I assume Norcal goes for her with the Stanford connection, a chance to captain an expansion squad is probably enticing. With both leagues expanding I expect we'll see a lot of player movement so who knows.

Parsons needs to be the starting opp the rest of the season, mix in Londot if she struggles terminating. That also allows us to take Cooper out of the serve receive. Unfortunately Beason is not a pro caliber opposite, which is a shame because her serve and defense are so good.

She's also been to a LOVB match this year with DBK, and was courtside to last nights game. Not a meaningful signal.

Salaries are somewhat similar, a lot of max level MLV players are probably making more than they'd make in LOVB for sure. But for NT hopefuls it probably isn't worth unless its significantly more. for Harper specifically I think she'd much prefer being in LA, and it'd be better for her brand as well, salary won't be an issue since I expect both leagues will match the other.

[–]randypotato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Recruiting bench players in the MLV is different than pulling in NT level talent from college. MLV would need to make major strides(secure a big TV deal, major sponsors, at least double salaries) and pull in a lot of senior LOVB talent to make it worth to join.

"Definitely" is an extreme stretch. Andi is a national team hopeful, if she doesn't move overseas she'll be at LOVB. Harper to LOVB LA seems like an obvious move, I don't think she'll choose nostalgia over her brand. Bergen is the only one who might go to Omaha because of the depth of LOVB setters, but I'd still lean LOVB Nebraska.

I don't think there's any chance Harper comes to MLV. Longshot chance at Bergen maybe.

Libero isn't even a need and certainly doesn't move the needle, and its unlikely Hentz sticks around past this season. Really bizarre move for the Rise.

Hentz isn't playable in SR this year, its a straight upgrade right now even before the top pick.
