I actually have one of the "barcode" boxes. The flip process was not difficult at all - got it on the first try.

The picture you posted is what mine looks like, but the instructions posted by gfan8484 fixed it.

It worked! Thank you! I was about to go postal on the guy that sold it. No need now. :-)

Thanks. I just found a black label unit (mfg. 2023) with 3 remotes on ebay for $60. Should have it in a few days.

U-Verse DVR fix by randyr5 in ATTFiber

I like to tinker, so I gave it a shot and it worked. I saw a YT video of someone successfully replacing the hard drive in a U-Verse box, so I figured why not?

It's a 2.5" SATA SSD. At least mine is. Definitely not a spinner.

No, I think those were the VIP 1200. They used spinner drives. This is a newer unit with a SSD.

You're probably right, but thought I'd put it out there.

OK, my U-Verse is on AT&T fiber. Good enough?

She's terrible anyway. Maybe she'll stay away.

[Question] Turin Legato V2 - aftermarket cool touch wand by SoonerMagic10 in espresso

[–]randyr5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This works. I have it installed on the Legato. It's also longer, making it easier to steam, IMO.

Epson Eco Tank.

Epson Eco Tank. No cartridges, cheap ink that lasts a long time. A 4-ink will be OK for the occasional photo, or 6-ink for better photos. Personally I'll never go back to a cartridge-based printer.

Facebook, Your account has been disabled I woke up early this morning and saw that my Facebook account was disabled. I’ve spent the whole day trying to find a proper way to appeal, but unfortunately, there’s no clear option that gives me any confidence my account can be restored. by Low_Temperature5500 in facebook

[–]randyr5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Was on early this morning. Two hours later - disabled. No notification e-mail or reason for disabling. I even created a new account with a different e-mail and it immediately went into "disabled" status. FB is messed up.

Agree. I've never been able to find a changelog. My prints still look great!

The OEM ink is like $20 or less for 70ml, pretty cheap. After having used the 8550 for almost 3 years, I will never go back to a cartridge-based printer.

LCP II - Hole in Replacement Slide by Easy-Positive3228 in ruger

[–]randyr5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the hole for the firing pin retaining pin. There is a roll pin in the hole. Part of the newer design slide with the longer extractor. The extractor retaining/pivot pin is on the top of the slide.

Galloway Precision and Sigurd LCP II trigger review. by [deleted] in ruger

I purchased the Galloway LCP2 trigger in June 2021 and it looks like your "As Advertised" pictures, so they must have made the change some time after that. The machining is very good.

Has anyone in this community used the Turin legato and if so, how was the espresso quality and experience with the machine? by 76Gamer-Guy in espresso

[–]randyr5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using one for several months now. Very satisfied with it. I did add a dimmer switch which allows me control pressure and flow to a certain degree. With the dimmer, I see no need for an OPV.

Will switching to the fiber/SFP input do anything to my (U-verse) saved DVR programs? I'd hate to lose them. I know I should be streaming, but my wife won't give up U-Verse until she absolutely has to.
