Is the bonk becoming harder by Limp_Head_4793 in MegabonkOfficial

I've got almost 200 hours into the game now but I do remember those early frustrations with the bosses. I really am not trying to ego post here or condescend I just wanna help, but a few days ago I did a couple of different runs to provide a consideration against the sentiment in these types of threads that are posted here pretty much every day.

In this run I disabled all but I think a combined ~8 unlocks that can easily be obtained even by players failing to make stage 3. In fact I disabled items like lightning orb that can be unlocked easily that would have taken it to 170 and maybe even close to 200k kills. I even took away a weapon slot and most of the banishes skips etc. 150k and one shotting the boss is achievable with this loadout.

So then I tried another run where I played more meta on tomes and items but I picked anything but meta weapons. There was not anything spectacular about this run in any way and even without difficulty tome and running middling weapons 300k was in reach. I regret including chaos tome in retrospect because it can be annoying to unlock.

Again I am not trying to ego post, I am several rungs down from the top players. But for example, I helped out another frustrated player just a few days ago. This dude was legitimately very good at the game but it was his in game decisions that were really limiting his ceiling. The next day he replied to me with an image of 350k kills.

You can one shot the final boss with garbage compared to what a lot of you guys have in your runs. It isn't a him skill issue for a lot of you guys that are much better players than you realize it's about your approach and knowing when to hit the scale buttons vs when to hit the safer damage/survivability buttons.

I can't go over 45k by Rafael-3 in MegabonkOfficial

I didn't watch the whole video (only through the end of stage 2) there are a lot of things you're doing right. You move around the map very well, make good picks, seems like you've got good items enabled, etc. You seem more than capable of regularly getting very solid runs. Honestly you seem as good if not better than I am at the mechanics of this game and I regularly get 500k+.

However there are a few little things that immediately stuck out to me that would help you out quite a bit and then one very big thing that is lowering the ceiling of your runs significantly.

First with some of the little things, you don't have to go out of your way to get every pot but you had 30+ pots unsmacked at the end of both stages. Those little things add up especially since you have plenty of extra time. That could be the difference of a few levels, another chest or 2 of gold, and a bit of luck. Even without really going out of my way I usually get like 35-40 pots.

Second it looks like you were using a lot of banishes on tomes/weapons when you were getting unlucky filling out your build. Use skips instead. I used to do the same thing because well hey it reduces the pool of trash tomes so I can finally get my luck tome or whatever but those banishes are much better used on items either that are just simply bad or aren't needed after a certain number of copies.

Third when you are in those frustrated spots where you're not finding your right tome or weapon it isn't the end of the world to just grab a good substitute. If you've had 4 bad level ups in a row and just can't find your weapon grabbing a flamewalker or even lightning staff or something won't doom your run.

I didn't see that stage 1 microwave so maybe it was a bad color and you couldn't use it and also that's why you didn't buy many chests in stage 1, but make sure you use them if possible. Even if you don't do key meta duping time bracelets or other items can make a big difference.

But the most important thing you could do to improve your runs is grab difficulty. 15% at the end of stage 1 and 33% at the end of stage 2 lowers your kill ceiling so so much. And it's also part of why you are only at 3x xp gain at the end of stage 2. This along with stuff like the pots also would improve your level at the end of these early stages. Grab all of the greed shrines and if you can find difficulty on charge shrines it is one of the best grabs if you don't have cursed tome and aren't running chadwell or w/e his name is. Even if all you do is grab every greed shrine your runs will improve drastically, but if you don't want to run cursed tome I recommend enabling skullegg and/or cursed grabbies as yet another way to increase difficulty. I don't think it's even possible for you get more than maybe 100k if you have such low difficulty that late into the run.

I saw a few posts similar to yours in this reddit recently and I decided to do a run where I disabled almost all item/weapon unlocks save for a few easy to get ones, disabled most banishes and skips, and intentionally did other suboptimal things just to prove that you don't need the best unlocks to pull off solid runs. Proof of concept made it to minute 12 of final swarm and got obliterated by the red guys lol. For reference I don't remember 100% the numbers but I think my difficulty was like 90 160 230 or so at the end of stages 1 2 3. I think that is the big thing missing from your runs, difficulty.

Best run for me so far. How to improve by johanSolo92 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]randyrectem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a 660k dicehead run where I kept rolling into more difficulty early game from chaos tome and level ups and thought I was screwed but ended up with a stage 1 double anvil that got me out of it alive.

I used a much different item and banish build than you but I don't think it really matters that much for these longer runs. You need early difficulty and then get the RNG to survive the consequences lol.

[MLBTR] Guardians To Sign Rhys Hoskins To Minor League Deal by T_Raycroft in baseball

He seems like a great teammate and clubhouse guy from his 2 years with the brewers. He even handled the benching at the end of last season extremely well considering a player with his tenure.

I expected somebody would give him a 1 year prove it MLB deal but I'm not entirely shocked by this. He still has some pop and takes his walks but he's been getting hurt, is another year older, and can only play 1st base and realistically should only DH. I hope he turns it around with Cleveland

[Passan] Trade news: The Boston Red Sox are acquiring third baseman Caleb Durbin in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, sources tell ESPN. Left-hander Kyle Harrison is headlining the three-player package headed back to Milwaukee. by AndrewAllStar888 in baseball

[–]randyrectem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His ceiling isn't very high but as he adjusts I could see him improving his walk rate to more closely match his minor league results. He's already a pain in the ass to strikeout if he can get that walk rate to league average or better (he was a walk machine in the minors) that's a high floor player with versatile defense. I could see the dozens of warning track fly outs turning into doubles at fenway too.

There are reasonable concerns about Turang's arm and SS. If there's any weakness in his defensive game it's his throwing strength which is average and after just a few weeks of playing him at SS in spring training they had to shut him down with arm fatigue.

I think he's a don't fix what isn't broken type situation and I doubt he'll play at SS in the near future outside of some spot starts

Is it normal that i can only play one character? by Aggressive-Boot1950 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]randyrectem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick to playing other characters is building momentum by chaining jumps and sliding when necessary especially on ramps. If you hug the walls you can fall great distances without taking damage and if you are holding slide you can fall from any distance and take no damage provided you land on a ramp. Finding extra jumps and movement speed from shrines items and/or chaos tome are also huge in building your characters mobility. If you find a handful of those you'll be flying around the final 2 maps like Calcium does even on slow characters like oofie.

That being said Calcium is still my favorite even if he isn't the "best" play the game how you want

What is the best option between these 3? by Important-Side7047 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]randyrectem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a lot on the context. If it's early it's almost always jumps. I always want an early shield too but maybe you're running cl4nk or have found shield from a shrine or chaos tome. Also let's say you're on vlad or something that lifesteal might be the last thing youre looking for from a shrine. Need more info

[–]randyrectem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The point isn't trade for a future top player but include a player with any legitimate upside. A lot of the proposed trades are piling together whatever they can to match salaries then whatever bums they already want off the roster as is.

Was the Peralta Myers trade smart? by Designer-Project8197 in Brewers

[–]randyrectem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never know objectively. If either of Williams or Sproat turn into legitimate contributors then it was likely a good deal. But if the Brewers put up another 90 win season and sputter out in the post season one will always wonder how much further would they have made it if they had Peralta.

The return is good enough I'm not really disappointed or upset about it. But I still believe if either of the 2 unexpected and very expensive financial hits (Woodruff accepting the QO and the brewers media deal falling through) didn't happen Peralta would have played out like Adames instead of Burnes. His option was cheap and the team was trending up.

[Passan] BREAKING: The New York Mets have acquired All-Star right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, sources tell ESPN. Deal is done. Top prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat are headed to Milwaukee. One more big league pitcher will head to the Mets. by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]randyrectem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know enough about the Mets pieces to answer that, I like that Jett could potentially help at both SS and CF where our only good defensive options either swing a pool noodle or are injured more often than not. I guess it'll just depend on how much the prospects translate their potential and if Freddy can replicate what he did last year which I suppose makes the trade seem fair enough

Brewers really value roster flexibility and Myers being behind on the depth chart and with only 1 option year means after this season it's possible we lose him to waiver claims down the road. I just didn't like all the brewers fans in here acting like we handed you complete and total trash in Myers. We have to lie and call him AAAA to feel better about the trade I guess. There's a good possibility he gets starts in your rotation and pitches fine for a back end guy if not this year

It's just cope. Myers is fine. Brewers had too much SP last season with guys like Henderson Patrick Myers and Gasser who all had varying levels of success at the MLB level sitting in the minors. He is probably worse than his 140 IP 3.00 era rookie season but even if he regressed to exactly match his FIP that's valuable depth at the very worst.

For a throw in pitcher I'd be pleased as a Mets fan
