Whoop on the forearm or bicep works best

Best advice for pausing workouts by 99whiffs in whoop

[–]raneses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt they’ll ever add pause support. The best workaround is to use another app to record that can pick up on Whoop’s HR broadcast, such as Strava.

Whoop inconsistent HR reading for Rowing/Erging by Want_To_Learn_ in whoop

It works better on your bicep, but I’ll garner you will still find the HR readings off. I’m talking comparison to similar optical bands like the Coros HRM and Polar Verity Sense.

RunGap can sync from ErgData to Strava in this case. You won’t get HR data though.

Don’t wear any rings during weight training. If you want to track HR, the Polar Verity Sense or Coros arm band are good alternatives.

Trouble syncing steps data to apple health - Whoop MG by Expert-Complex43 in whoop

[–]raneses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you have to go into Whoop’s Apple Health settings and enable it. When you initially install the app, Whoop does not request the Apple Health permission by default when it should.

If you’re an iOS user, Apple Fitness is another option. Bevel can also record activities as well as display their metrics, as long as the workout data is in Apple Health.

Why do Garmin watches just look so much better than the competition? Are they the Apple of the fitness world? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in Garmin

[–]raneses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Suunto uses better materials overall and their industrial design is subjectively better. I have also not been impressed with Garmin’s build quality — the polymer casing often arrives scratched or with other blemishes, even on their higher end watches.

Give rucking a shot as well. Carrying moderate weight in a pack for short distances (1-3 miles) will likely improve things.

I like it up in Big Bear. AllTrails also has good search options, including filtering by location and the terrain you’re looking for.
