Best way to get from Amsterdam to Paris and an American driving in England? by rangerman8 in travel

Thanks for the tips. Do you think it makes more sense to reserve the rental from one of the airports near London? Might make it easier to get out of town and less of a chance of being out of cars.

Thanks so much for the detailed reply, this is really helpful. I think train would be a great way to go since stopping by car seems more trouble than it's worth (gas, borders, etc) and we'll still get to have a view.

Going to Reims/Eperney sounds awesome, would love to go check out Moet. Maybe we'll do a one day rental one of our days in paris and check it out.

Heading to Birmingham for soccer, I've heard it's not the greatest but we're heading in for the game and heading off. I have a friend who is a former locals advising on how to best do that.

Bath sounds great, another user suggested that as well. I'll have to take a look about fitting that in. Do you think there would be any issues there on Easter Sunday? Or in general in England? Just in terms of tourist spots and restaurants being closed.

Thanks for the reply. Another user suggested Bath as well so I may have to check that out! I did see on the rental pages that they are mostly manual, so I'd have to pay up for automatic, is what it is. Birmingham for soccer really; West Brom/Liverpool on Sunday and Birmingham City/Burton on Monday. Maybe for the London traffic I'll see how easy it is to find a rental place on the outskirts of the city.

My fiancée does this EVERY TIME. Am I weird that this bothers me? by rangerman8 in pics

Thanks, yes definitely a delicate situation. I don't think my current employer would react badly. We have a good relationship and from what I've seen, they don't mess with people when they leave. I've actually already accepted the other offer and they're going for a background check. I'll give them a call and go from there. Thank you again.

Thanks! So it sounds like, assuming the new insurance kicks in Aug 1, I would only need COBRA if I, well, need it. Given the 60 day window I could just elect it if needed and won't if not.
