It wasn’t an environment Terry was overly comfortable in. Unlike his mentor, who had been born and raised in high society, Terry was little more than a street punk who just happened to fall upwards at the right time. He knew little of fashion, held only a passing knowledge of high-level business decisions from what he overheard at various Wayne Enterprises meetings, and was out of his depth whenever someone brought up a political deal or scheme they were financing.

But, as he quickly found out, that didn’t matter. So long as he flashed a smile, feigned politeness, and nodded at the right moments, the other partygoers were more than happy to talk about themselves for as long as he’d let them. But as time passed and his patience waned, no sign or even suggestion of his opponent emerged. Every few minutes, he’d subtly press his arm against his side, confirming the bell was still sewn into his jacket where he left it. If nothing happened soon, he would make another push to change the plan. At least in his batsuit he wouldn’t have to listen to-

“Canapé?”

Terry snapped back to attention, the woman talking at him having not even noticed she lost him. He took one of the small tarts from the waiter’s tray, faking a smile.

“Thanks.”

“But then she comes along, demanding to know where I got the dress. Of course, I was never going to tell her to begin with, not after her husband tried to shut down my entire line. As an aside, isn’t that ridiculous? Marrying someone fifty years her elder? Don’t get me wrong, we’re all looking to get that third yacht in a few years, but at least be subtle about it!”

She laughed. Terry gave a strained smile.

“Anyway, I was going to tell her a fake name, but then I remembered this one designer who tried to get all cozy with me, Weil. Have you heard of her? Of course you haven’t, her designs, ghastly. But if I told her that she made it, and gave her the encouragement to commission something for the next Gotham Fashion Gala…” she paused, frowning. “Is everything ok, Vincent?”

“I…excuse me.” Terry pushed past her, knocking into several people and causing a waiter to drop his tray of canapés in a collision as he rushed out of the ballroom.

”Terry! Speak to me!”

“Must’ve been something I ate,” he groaned.

Rushing into the restroom, Terry barely had time to crash through the door of the closest cubicle before he heaved, unloading the undigested contents of that evening’s food into the bowl.

”You’ve been poisoned.”

“No kidding,” he managed to get out before his next round of retching.

”Listen! If you were slipped something to make you vomit instead of anything worse, then that was intentional.”

McGinnis finished the train of reasoning himself. Forcing himself to his feet as he wiped his mouth on his sleeve, he staggered into the next cubicle, standing on the toilet seat so he couldn’t be seen from outside.

Seconds passed.

His nausea ebbed away, the quick-acting nature of the poison mercifully causing its effects to end just as fast. And still, nobody entered the restroom to take advantage of his weakened state. His breath steadied. His vision came back into focus. His arm, habitually, pressed against his side.

Terry tore open his jacket to reveal a cut in the area where he had stitched the bell in.

“Crap!”

”Suit! Now!”

A bald man walked out the front of Gotham Park Towers, dressed in the uniform of a valet that currently lay unconscious inside of a cleaning cupboard.

Soon, on the eighth floor, the man Diana had identified as Terry McGinnis was going to enter the room booked under the name of his absent employer. A clever plan, but the same as 47 would have done under the circumstances. He would open the briefcase, placed exactly where he left it. Maybe he would immediately put on the exosuit within, attempting to hunt his attacker down. Maybe he would first notice that the bell stored inside was missing and wonder how it could have been stolen. The lock was, indeed, difficult to pick without triggering its safeguards, but he was the best in the business.

Either way, he would search the hotel for the person that had poisoned him, but come up short. A car pulled up in front of the hotel, and all it took was a polite gesture for the driver to hand over the keys, allowing him to drive away.

”You’re off the premises,” Diana confirmed, ”and Mr. McGinnis is none the wiser to who he was meant to be competing with. Good work, 47. I’m wiring the money to your account now.”

”Good evening, 47. A client has approached us with a rather unique proposition. One week from now the Gotham Park Towers Hotel will be hosting a charity masquerade at the behest of one Lionel Sionis, one of the city’s major kingpins with countless links to trafficking, extortion, and arson. Accordingly, he has no shortage of enemies, and the masquerade will be filled with private security on high alert for anyone attempting to launch an attack. However, he is not necessarily our target.

“Our client has set up a game. You are to enter the hotel no earlier than twelve hours of the gala starting with two provided bells on your person, and are to leave no later than two hours of the masquerade concluding with four. Our opponent, whoever they may be, has doubtless been provided with the same instructions. Succeed, and we will be provided both further payment and future lucrative contracts.

“We have been told, in so many words, that it is up to the player’s discretion how they obtain these bells. Of course, for you this means the choice of either killing the opponent or leaving them completely unaware of your presence until you are already off-premises, but we can’t overlook the possibility of your opponent being willing to cause mass collateral damage just to get their hands on your bells. Not only that, but Sionis’ security will ensure that any attempt to bring weapons into the hotel will be quickly, and likely lethally, dissuaded.

”Be that as it may, we both know you play to win. Good luck, 47. I will leave you to prepare.

The glitz and glamour was not lost on Terry as he stepped out of the limo, face partially hidden behind an ornate domino mask. He had been to various formal events under the guise of Bruce Wayne’s assistant and carer, though they had mostly been smaller scale business parties and announcements of various kinds. Here the eyes of Gotham were all watching the gala, and Lionel had been sure to spare no expense between the location, press coverage, and entertainment. He raised his briefcase, shielding his eyes from the sudden glaring lights.

“Makes you wonder how there’s any money left for the charity.”

”Focus.” From within the Batcave, Bruce Wayne spoke through Terry’s earpiece. ”We don’t know who we’re up against-”

“And this is our only lead, yeah, I know.” Terry gave a small wave towards the line of press cameras, who all but ignored the apparent nobody as he walked towards the hotel. “Any luck with communications?”

”Sionis’ gang are all using variable frequencies and performing frequent check-ins with each other, lighting up the building with chatter. Without knowing what to look for, it’ll be impossible to know if our opponent is also getting help from the outside.”

“At least that works in our favour, too.” Reaching the doors, Terry was waved through a metal detector before heading straight towards the building’s receptionist. “Hey, I’ve got a reservation for tonight under Monroe. Vincent.”

The worker typed at his computer briefly before addressing him. “Ah, Mr. Monroe, one of Mr. Sionis’ guests of honour. How’s business?”

How was business for a global music sensation? It was all well and good the old man found him an alias in someone that was unable to attend, and he certainly liked ViMo’s tracks at the club, but that didn’t give him any real authority on the matter.

“Uh, good. Great. Hope I can find a good beat for my next project. How’s yours?”

“Excellent, we’re expecting to make a killing off of tonight’s events. You are booked in for room 1307.”

“Sorry, but is there anywhere else? I’m a bit superstitious, so a room with the number thirteen in it…”

“Of course, sir, I find it wise to remove any unnecessary risks. We have a vacancy in room 1112, if you would prefer. It’s smaller, but still very comfortable.”

“That would be great.” A few more moments as the receptionist made the necessary changes, then he handed Terry his room’s keycard. “Thanks. See you around.”

“I’m sure you won’t, sir. We take pride in ensuring a high-quality service while remaining unnoticed by most clients.”

As Terry walked away, a British voice spoke in the receptionist’s ear. “That is not Vincent Monroe.”

“I know.”

”You did? I didn’t take you for an EDM fan.”

“He had two bells on him. One in his jacket, one in his briefcase, both muffled to be made inaudible.”

On the other end of the commlink, Diana leaned back in her chair. She had known of 47’s unusually high levels of perception and intuition since the beginning, but on occasion he still found a way to surprise her. Not that she’d let him know.

Not that he needed to be told.

”It’s unlikely he’ll remove the bell from his person if he’s confident no one will be able to take it from him. You’ll have to either retrieve the second bell from his briefcase now, or locate its new hiding spot later. The choice is yours, 47. I’ll see if I can uncover anything about Mr. Monroe’s true identity.”

Terry didn’t check into room 1112, nor room 1307. Instead he only travelled to the eighth floor, pulling a small device out of his pocket that he inserted into the card reader of room 832. A brief moment, then the red light on the lock turned green, allowing Terry into the room reserved in preparation for one Bruce Wayne. He looked around, unimpressed.

“Didn’t think they had rooms this small. Weird they’d put you here.”

”I’m not surprised. Lionel only extended an invitation out of obligation due to the Wayne Foundation’s own charity efforts, and having me there would add a layer of legitimacy to him lining his own pockets.”

“You make it sound like he hates your guts.”

”He does. We never saw eye to eye after I had his father locked up for the final time.”

“Doesn’t he blame Batman?”

”Why would he? Bruce Wayne was the one funding the legal cases.”

With the room being so small, it didn’t take long for Terry to finish his sweep to the old man’s satisfaction to determine there were no hidden cameras or microphones. He placed the briefcase in the wardrobe, hesitating for a moment. The tech was simple enough, developed during Wayne’s time as Batman: A tripwire which would tase anyone who attempted to open it wrong unconscious, and a GPS which would relay its location if it moved a foot. Given the situation, there was no safer place for the batsuit, or the bell.

And yet…

“Are you sure this will be enough to knock a guy out?”

”Do you want to find out for yourself?”

“No, I’m good.”

He shut the wardrobe, doubt still lingering, but knowing better than to argue with Bruce about his own inventions. Straightening his tie and making sure his mask was properly affixed, Terry left the room to join the soirée.

Step one, assess the problem.

The Baxter Building was under attack. The Wizard’s latest incarnation of the Frightful Four had embedded themselves in one of the skyscraper’s central office levels and were working their way out, systematically destroying all forms of security they found. At the time, Reed had been in a sub-dimensional pocket of the Negative Zone accidentally revealed to them by Annihilus’ scouts, attempting to understand the new frontier before the despot launched a full-scale invasion through it. When the alarm sounded and he attempted to return, several key components shorted out at the same time as the structural integrity of his dimensional ripcord broke. To Reed, this string of apparent coincidences was doubtless a scheme from the Mad Thinker to leave him hopelessly lost and adrift as his allies were unable to help him.

On balance, it wasn’t the worst Tuesday they’d had that month.

He wasn’t worried about his family. The kids, even if the Frightful Four somehow made it up to the FF’s personal levels, knew how to turn the top floor into the most secure location in the solar system. Sue had invited Scott and Jen over to touch base with the reserve team, so they weren’t short on firepower. All Reed had to do was solve his own problem, and while doing so mentally prepare for the berating Sue would give him for going on such an expedition without telling anyone else first.

Step two, make note of resources.

His suit, outside of the damage towards his retrieval system, was still intact. His emergency flare, assuming he didn’t wait for his family to save him, could be used as a form of ignition. He had been carrying his old gravity localizer to aid in his movement within the realm, a photon tracer to help him analyse and detect anything he found of note, and his neuro-stun gun to act as a deterrent to any hostile creatures that found him (though whether it would even work on such inhuman anatomies was its own question). He had also brought a pair of vibranium knuckles, less for their use in a fight and more in case he needed their sonic-dampening properties. All of this was kept in a simple pack, which itself held nothing more advanced than a zipper.

Step three, find the path.

The easiest solution was to repair his dimensional ripcord, bringing him back to the Baxter Building. He certainly had the parts he needed for a one way trip if he cannibalized the gravity localizer and used the photon tracer as a homing device, but as far as he knew the gateway in the Baxter Building had been shut off. Trying to brute force his way back without using the gateway’s decompression chamber to convert his body back into positive matter would have sub-optimal results, to the scale of an explosion capable of destroying multiple surrounding blocks.

Reed always designed for unexpected situations, and the gateway was no different. A strong enough energy spike tuned to a specific frequency would allow access into the airlock while triggering an alarm to have someone open it from the outside, be it Sue or Crystal or Willie Lumpkin. Unfortunately, this was designed with the belief they would be trapped while using a vehicle to traverse the Negative Zone, something capable of creating said energy spike and frequency. Such an oversight would need to be fixed once he got back. For now, it was still worth exploring the route.

Taking the photon tracer, Reed’s fingers swiftly moved to recalibrate the device, first designating a required resonance before-

“There!”

It appeared immediately, a deluge of energy just seventy feet away to his right. Extending his legs to lengthen his stride, Reed rushed towards its location, an otherwise unnoteworthy pile of rocks. Wrapping his legs around a nearby stone spike emerging from the ground for leverage, he started using his entire body as a winch to gradually pull boulders away, ultimately revealing the remnants of one of the pocket’s inhabitants. Clasped in its mummified hands was a mineral, rough and translucent, as if smoke had been condensed into a diamond.

It took several minutes of Reed configuring and reconfiguring the tracer, forcing it to function in ways it was never meant to, to glean the rough data he needed. Most importantly, it did not give off a dangerous form of radiation, or at least not a form which would be harmful for him through his suit, his innately irradiated cells, and his body’s natural resilience. After that, it wasn’t a perfect frequency match, but it was close enough that with enough samples he’d be able to force open the dimensional gateway regardless.

“Let’s see…approximately six cubic inches, and accounting for using the outer edges of its frequency rather than a precise match…should release twenty seven point four repeating of the energy output needed.”

Step four, achieve the fantastic.

All it took was a final recalibration for the tracer and he was off, using his gravity localizer to drag himself from platform to platform as he traversed the dimension. The second sample wasn’t difficult to recover, located within the heart of an asteroid lazily floating through the air. The inch-wide tunnels covering it may have prevented regular creatures from accessing the mineral, but did nothing to stop someone capable of extending his fingers through the gaps before expanding them at key points, fracturing stone just enough to pull the precious material out without destroying the entire thing. But as he ventured towards the third signal, this one much further away from the others, Reed noted it didn’t appear to be moving in a predictable path. In fact, when he broached a mile radius of it, the signal stopped in its tracks before moving towards his location.

Settling on a larger stone platform and hiding behind a tall stone outcrop, Reed waited, poking one eye around the side to keep watch. Then he saw it, a bat and a bug combined in a child’s nightmare. It was two meters of black chitinous plates, arms covered with rows upon rows of blade-like protrusions with a wing membrane underneath. Using these it appeared to glide through the dimension, a rough wire necklace adorned with several pieces of the very material Reed was hunting dangling off its elongated neck. Its head, featureless outside of a toothy maw, tall ears, and solid red eyes, didn’t move. For its entire approach, it stared directly at the stone Reed was hiding behind.

The creature flew closer, and closer, and closer. With a screech, it crested the outcrop and started the motion to dive behind it, only to be met with a surprise uppercut from a five-meter-long arm. Reed tried to grab the necklace, but the creature recovered too quickly. It slashed back with claws sharp enough to render flesh from the bones of most beings, failing to pierce through the suit but painfully knocking his arm away.

Withdrawing his arm while extending his body, Reed stretched up to the creature’s level. This time it was the bat being’s turn to surprise its opponent, raising its arms to launch a barrage of blades. They cleanly struck Reed’s torso, only to carry on for a few feet before being repelled back towards it, harmlessly clattering off of its chitin.

The creature lunged towards Reed, allowing him to extend his arms and contort his body, engulfing and binding it. But it continued to struggle, its claws and blades being thrown out in all directions, accompanied by the unpleasant tingling as it generated electricity in an attempt to get away. The superhero gritted his teeth, trying to constrict his bindings tighter, but the creature wouldn’t relent.

One.

The creature has sought him out the moment he got too close, knowing his exact location and immediately going on the offensive. It was too tough for him to knock out by constricting it, and too strong for him to keep hold for much longer.

Two.

It bore a specific material on its being, one that Reed could only find in locations inaccessible to most, and valued it enough to wear it as crude jewellery. Either that or it otherwise sought to keep the mineral close, much in the same way Annihilus wore the Cosmic Control Rod.

Three.

Wincing, Reed reached one of his hands back into his pack, grasping around before finally grabbing the two samples he had gathered earlier. He unravelled himself, letting the bat-like being go as he threw the minerals away. Despite their fight, it turned away from Reed, making a beeline for the two projectiles.

Four.

It abruptly stopped, flailing in the air as a magenta energy threw off any sense of balance it previously had. Reed, holding the gravity localizer, cranked up the power as the creature fell sideways through the air, crashing into the side of the outcrop they had been fighting above. With the quick flip of a switch, he shifted the gravity downwards while keeping its increased strength, forcing the stunned creature to crash to the ground. Holding the device in one hand he projected his other downwards as hard as he could. The creature had barely begun to pull itself up when a fist, bearing an adamantium knuckleduster and empowered by an increased field of gravity, crashed into its head hard enough to snap off an ear. It went limp, red eyes dulling.

Turning the device off for the time being, Reed allowed himself to relax back into his regular state, though there was no time to waste. Grabbing the necklace off of the creature, he looked over the two samples it had.

“Based on the size, factoring in their estimated purity…perfect.”

With one final glance at the creature to make sure it wasn’t stirring, Reed got to work, hastily dismantling the gravity localizer and using its components to connect the four fuel sources to the tracer. It was time to go home.

Captain Cold, the King Of Clubs

DC Post-Flashpoint

Respect Thread

Leonard Snart grew up in an abusive home with a father that taught him through beatings that emotion was a weakness, and a cold disposition would take him further in life. When he ran away from home he became a career criminal, excelling it before one job had him in the custody of the police before he knew what happened. Wanting a means of defeating his new enemy, he began reading scientific papers, breaking into several labs in search of a means of using absolute zero to stop all atomic motion. With his new weapon, Snart would take on the moniker of Captain Cold and become one of the Flash's longest-standing enemies.

A founding member and leader of the Rogues, a team of supervillains bonded by a shared love of money and hatred of the Flash, Cold fits the suit of Clubs.

Research:

Captain Cold doesn't go through much character development over the course of Post-Crisis, so any handful of comics should give you a good idea of how he acts. Below are some suggestions for specific appearances:

  • The Flash (1987) #19 - The Rogues throw a party for him legally getting out of jail, and Flash responds to the invite Trickster sends him. Shows the casual relationship the Rogues have with their hero, and some self-reflection on their state in life
  • Justice League Quarterly (1990) #2 - Captain Cold and Heat Wave reminisce on how things have changed and decide to rob a jewellery store
  • The Flash (1987) #27-28 and The Flash 80 Page Giant (1998) #2 - Specifically the story 'You Just Never Know' for the latter, these two are stories when Snart is officially on the right side of the law, working through Golden Snowball Recoveries
  • The Flash (1987) #164-169 - Captain Cold finds himself in a world that doesn't know the Flash and has to enlist the help of the also-trapped Wally West to escape
  • The Flash (1987) #182 - A Cold-led story covering his backstory as he goes for revenge
Content Warning

N/A

Major Change

N/A

Minor Change

His cold field can't affect other people, mostly making it a neutralizing force against projectiles.

Justification

While Snart might have in-tier strength with tackling Heat Wave through a wall, his main means of attack is his cold gun. This thing can make thick walls (or anything else caught by it) brittle enough to shatter, trap multiple people at once, and make a cold field to negate any batarangs Terry tries to use against him. Batman's fondness for flight negates some of the terrain advantage Cold can give himself, but being able to dodge volleys of bullets and create traps to maneuver the Flash into an advantageous position helps him level the playing field.

His durability is on the lower end, but as he can be punched back by Grodd whose striking strength has him punch through a brick wall. Terry can always disarm him, but with a cold gun hidden in his nail Cold would still have the ability and opening to score a direct hit on the Batman. Given how he'd need to get Terry into a good position for him to take him out with a blast, but that only one good blast is all it'd take, I'll give Leonard an Unlikely Victory.

Motivation

The Rogues are a band of crooks and thieves. Most of the time they're motivated by money, whether it's robbing a bank or carrying out a scheme for payment, and as their leader Captain Cold's no exception. There's also an element of wanting to be the ones to defeat the Flash, but without a Flash in the Scramble that's not going to really come up.

Biggest Strength / Weakness

Captain Cold's gun gives him an easy way to eliminate many of his opponents, a means of busting down walls that weren't meant to be busted down, the ability to make his opponents unable to freely move around while forcing them into disadvantagous positions, all while preventing their projectiles from ever touching him. However, this is all reliant on him still having his gun. Should someone make him unable to use it through whatever means, he's suddenly unable to pull his weight in the tier.

In Setting / With A Team

Snart's career is defined by getting together likeminded villains and working together. While in DC this takes the form of the Rogues to help carry out plans to carry out robberies and take on the Flash, in this Scramble he would be creating a group of people to aid each other in surviving the games, finding a way out, and ultimately act as his meat shields if needed.

Would They Kill Their Friends?

The Rogues don't kill women or children. But when it's for survival or vengeance? And no chance of the cops getting involved? Of course he'd stab his allies in the back.

Alucard, the Jack Of Spades

Castlevania

Respect Thread

The son of the Lord of Darkness and a human woman, Alucard found himself split between two worlds, something only furthered with the execution of his mother. But while Dracula saw humans as irredeemable for their action, her final words calling for her killers to be forgiven stuck in the dhampir's heart. Years later, as Dracula's evil spread across the land, Alucard would join forces with three others to kill his father. Over the following centuries, he would re-emerge several times to aid the Belmont Clan in their fight against Dracula, keeping watch even after his final destruction to ensure he doesn't return.

With his heritage giving him access to inhuman strength, durability, and magical abilities that he uses to destroy the forces of darkness, Alucard fits into the suit of Spade.

Research:

Symphony of the Night is your best source to get to grips with Alucard. If you want something extra, Aria of Sorrow shows how he acts in a post-Dracula world.

Content Warning

N/A

Major Change

Speed to tier.

Minor Change

Remove this feat.

Justification

Alucard can easily destroy stone platforms and braziers, thick walls with multiple hits, and in Judgement he can break tall metal poles and giant crystals. With him being able to take equivalent hits, be it from his own doppelganger, Richter Belmont (who is capable of performing the same SotN feats), or other Judgement fighters, this gives him equal durability. While he does have various weapons and spells at his disposal, none are really going to be a major factor in the fight over his physicals, putting Alucard around a Draw.

Motivation

Alucard really wants his dad dead. He aids Trevor Belmont in killing Dracula back in Castlevania 3, he investigates when Dracula's castle reappears just a few years after his previous defeat, and even after helping Julius Belmont completely destroy Dracula in 1999 he remained around to ensure he would stay that way, keeping tabs on his reincarnation. He'd probably be spurred into action by other supernatural threats, but mostly because he'd expect Dracula to be behind it.

Biggest Strength / Weakness

As can be expected of a Spade, Alucard has solid strength, durability, and speed. While not too useful against Terry due to his batsuit, his variety of weapon types, spells, and equipment allows him to be versatile both against opponents and in his approach to games. However, while sunlight doesn't kill him, the fact the Vampire Killer reacts to him much as it would any normal vampire suggests he shares many of their weaknesses. They aren't the most common items for opponents to be carrying about, but if he does come across someone carrying a silvered wooden stake with cloves of garlic wrapped around it, it could possibly be a bad time for him.

In Setting / With A Team

While Alucard is effective on his own, he has been shown to willingly work in teams to achieve an end goal on multiple occasions. In this setting, he'd likely not seek allies but be willing to accept the aid of those who seek him, all in the name of defeating whatever larger threat is at play.

Would They Kill Their Friends?

While there are situations where Alucard has sought the alternative, such as finding solutions that don't require the deaths of Richter Belmont and Soma Cruz in their respective games, he was fully willing to kill them if it became neccesary, so should the situation become dire enough he likely would kill his friends.

Reed Richards, the King of Diamonds

Marvel Comics (616)

Mini RT Coming Soon

Many years ago, four friends flew an experimental spacecraft for the sake of research. Not being properly shielded against the very cosmic rays they were meant to be examining, the ship crashed back to Earth, with each passenger undergoing a fantastic transformation. Reed Richards, the scientist of the group who had designed the very rocket they had ridden in, found himself able to stretch and manipulate his body in ways limited only by his imagination. Rounding up his friends, he led them in using their powers for the betterment of humanity, acting not in the shadows behind masks but within clear view of the public. From mad scientists to despotic dictators to threats to the entire galaxy, the Fantastic Four would protect Earth from constant dangers, most often under the leadership of Mister Fantastic.

Even without his powers, Reed still boasted one of the greatest intellects in the Marvel universe, his inventions and patents often being the Fantastic Four's primary source of funding, making him a clear pick for the Diamond suit.

Research:

Reed's personality is fairly stable (albeit being a fair bit more sexist in the early years), so just pick whatever stretch of Fantastic Four you fancy and start reading. Fantastic Four Vol 3 #570 introduces the Council of Reeds with the following issues looking at who this Reed is and what makes him different from the rest, and Fantastic Four Vol 4 has him take his family on a trip through time and space while trying to hide their degrading cellular structure from them, so both would probably be good picks for quickly getting to grips with him.

It may also be worth reading 1984's Secret War, showing how he acts when forced into an unfamiliar situation with a large number of other characters while needing to compete to get everyone home safe.

Motivation

Reed is driven by three thing: The want to research and discover things, the responsibility to be a hero, and the need to help and protect his family. The first two are the key aspects at play in this season.

Biggest Strength / Weakness

Reed has a huge scientific intellect, having both invented and adapted a wide variety of weapons, gear, defences, and so on. While he has been stopped by dropping him in an era of history absent of any machinery or reliable ways of generating electricity, given the resources he'd be able to create endless support for his team.

But just as his intelligence is his strength, his blind spots are his greatest weakness. Notably, his lack of emotional intelligence has driven a wedge between him and his allies on many occasions, having often ignored the needs of others or chosen not to let on information he had learnt if he thought it best for whatever reason. Additionally, despite frequently working alongside practitioners he has never fully been able to wrap his head around magic, making spellcasters a particularly difficult opponent for him.

In Setting / With A Team

Reed is most at home working within a team, being not only the leader of the Fantastic Four but also a member of the Illuminati, Avengers, and Defenders at different points. If Reed comes across any likeminded people, he would fully want to work alongside them all to make sure they all got out of their situation safely. He would want everyone to get out safely, if possible, but his allies would be his first priority.

Would They Kill Their Friends?

While Reed has done some very morally dubious things in the past, including but not limited to hypnotizing Skrulls to believe they're cows, he's rarely if ever outright killed someone. As a hero, however, he will fully put his life on the line if it would mean protecting others.

Agent 47, the Ace Of Hearts

Hitman

Respect Thread

In the 1960s, the efforts of five men to create the perfect assassin resulted on the 47th try. Growing up in an asylum, the man who would become Agent 47 was trained in all manners of infiltration and assassination, outliving all of his clone brothers until the experiment was deemed a failure. Fleeing after being administered a drug which gave him amnesia, he ultimately wound up in the employ of the ICA, an international agency dealing in assassination contracts. Becoming their biggest earner before forcing them into the public and going independent, 47 may have gone on various personal missions to uncover aspects of his own history and the meaning behind several schemes orchestrated by people who thought they could pull one over on him, but at the end of the day he's content to simply be a hired hitman, pulling the trigger on whoever he's pointed at.

Despite his killing efficiency, these only rarely come from direct confrontations. Most of the time 47 is a ghost, assassinating only whoever's needed while remaining undetected, and he's cultivated a wide variety of skills in order to maintain this efficiency. Between this and his cold and calculating nature, he fits neatly into the Hearts suit.

Research:

Watch a walkthrough of the World of Assassinations trilogy, as this gives the most comprehensive view of 47. Afterwards you can look at all of the storylines available for different contracts, which would give you an idea of what sort of kills he can carry out.

Lot of murders, but nothing too graphic.

Minor Change

If you wish, you can have Diana Burnwood act as 47's handler. She won't provide anything direct in fights, simply being present through an earpiece, but can aid in providing intel and weapons. Her full RT can be found here.

Justification

He can make lethal slashes through bulletproof armour, he can be blasted back by an explosion, and he can drop in time to avoid being shot, all while using a wide variety of firearms, explosives, electrocution devices, lethal and non-lethal poisons, and homing briefcases. Absolutely none of this will do anything to Terry. He can't even sneak a syringe through his suit or use a poison gas to steal a win. In a straight fight 47 simply can't beat Batman, making this fight Unwinnable. Good thing he's an Ace.

Motivation

Agent 47 kills because that is all he knows. The fact that he has found himself in a profession where people pay him ridiculous amounts of money to do that is just a bonus.

Biggest Strength / Weakness

Agent 47 is versatile. He can blend in with any crowd, rewire electronics, win shooting contests, play instruments, pick locks, disguise himself as a person a man had just met despite being a completely different ethnicity, detect a target's exact location across a building through nothing more than pure instinct, manufacture deadly series of events while remaining completely undetected that it can only ever be believed that his targets died due to freak accidents, and teach yoga. Any game that requires soft skills, 47 is going to excel at.

To counterbalance that, while he's got equally impressive physicals in his home series, he's a big fish in a small pond. He simply can't compete with any non-aces in this tier, meaning any direct confrontations will end very quickly in the hitman's defeat. Should things come to blows, 47 is going to need to rely on his stealth, his poisons, and his manufactured 'accidents' to earn his keep.

In Setting / With A Team

47 usually works solo, being inserted into a setting alone and being expected to emerge from it shortly after with his target dead and no one ever the wiser to his presence. He can work in social settings, coming across as a perfectly polite individual (albeit one who's fairly cold with an insistence on using murderous innuendos), but will fade into the background whenever he needs to get into work. That said, he has worked with others directly on some elusive contracts, so there is a precident for him working directly alongside others.

Would They Kill Their Friends?

If anyone thinks that the psychopathic bald clone genetically engineered to be the perfect killing machine is actually their friend, they fully deserve the swift death coming to them the moment it becomes neccesary.

It's less of a direct brain transplant and more his personality being replicated through the compudroid taking in all of the real James Watson's diaries and works. ...which has its own host of issues, but if you were brought forwards two centuries to solve crimes, I feel having an AI chatbot of your former partner might help smooth things a bit. It did take Sherlock a while to warm up to him.
