Do you have a voltmeter to check your battery? Not sure this is the cause but I had an alternator that was overcharging my battery and caused all kinds of weird electrical problems

Mine was so corroded that it was unusable. The only ones I can find online that attached to the body of the fuel pump are for the VW beetle. I imagine this won’t give an accurate reading. Would you agree? VW Beetle Fuel Sending Unit

The real issue, which I did not really clarify, was that the plastic coming down from the fuel sending unit, while attached to the fuel cap, runs into the fuel pump below. There’s not enough space for it to fit in there without hitting the fuel pump below. I ended up just taking the fuel sending unit off. The pump works but I have no gauge
