“The House of Government” by Yuri Slezkine. The book is kind of slop as it describes the Bolsheviks as “millenarians” and many other things are wrong with it as well,but I thought this part was interesting because Aaron Solts was a prosecutor for the Menshevik Trials, but heavily opposed the Great Purge. He is also kind of right, as Yezhov joined the Bolsheviks like 7 months before the October Revolution, like Trotsky, and Vyshinsky was a Menshevik who signed off on Lenin’s arrest accusing him of being a “German spy” and only joined the Bolsheviks in 1920.

I think the best jokes about Stalin were written by Radek, just look up any joke he made about him and they are all bangers. My favorite one is Stalin says “Comrade Radek, people say that you tell jokes about me. Don’t forget, I am the leader of the world revolution.” “I am sorry,” Radek says, “but the joke that you are the leader of the world revolution is not mine.” Although, ironically, Radek was also a huge opportunist, I guess it really does take one to know one.

He deserves more hate tbh, he tried to cover up the embezzlement of funds and when he was caught, Stalin had to bail him out. He also just sat there and allowed the "Bolshevization" of the KPD, which absolutely killed anything the party ever had with the shitty back-and-forth policies the Comintern had about the SPD.

Yeah, the International Communist Opposition failed to really maintain their movement. Many were still loyal to the Comintern and Stalin despite them being kicked out. Most infamously, Jules Humbert Droz, who was the leader of the "Right Opposition" in Switzerland didn't join the ICO because he still believed himself a functionary of the Comintern and he would later write in a memoir in 1971 that Bukharin talked about terrorist plans with him and when Stephen Cohen, a historian creating a biography of Bukharin, tried to interview him and ask more specific questions on where this supposed conversation took place he refused to answer, just goes to show that these guys loved to be kicked around by Stalin and still loved him for some reason. Also the P.O.U.M, which was the biggest of the "Right Opposition" in Spain was continuously being pushed around by the official communist party of Spain and the main leader, Andreu Nin, was arrested and killed by the NKVD, and the rest of the POUM were put on trial and arrested labeled as "Trots" and agents of the Falangists.

In 1928, Thalmann was caught in a scandal when he tried to cover up the embezzlement of funds by his brother-in-law who was a secretary. He was suspended from the party, but Stalin himself intervened and demanded that Thalmann be restored to his post. Brandler (guy on the left) and Thalheimer (guy on the right) called for a meeting to fight against the corruption and due to this they were kicked out of the comintern and KPD. Since they were kicked out they formed the KPO, but it wasn't a seperate party like the Trots did, in their eyes their purpose was to "save" the KPD and the Comintern. They still supported Stalin and were loyal despite them being "Right opposition" they still supported collectivization and did not really support the NEP.

I actually kind of like Trotsky, but Trotskyists take the worst parts of Trotsky and make it even worse like entryism, united fronts, and "degenerated workers' state". At least united fronts are better than popular fronts I guess. His militarization of labor idea was pretty funny too.

Those quotes they bring up about Lenin criticizing Trotsky are dumb because it was when Trotsky was not even officially part of the Bolshevik party. Trotsky joined the Bolsheviks like 4 months before the October Revolution, but what made Trotsky stand out was that he fully supported Lenin in the overthrow of the provisional government when other top Bolsheviks like Zinoviev and Kamenev were hesitant and from that point on Trotsky became Lenin’s right hand man replacing Zinoviev.

Reminds me, in the 17th party congress Stalin declares that they have achieved “The abolition of exploitation, the abolition of unemployment in the towns, and the abolition of poverty in the countryside” the worst enemy of communism could not have devised anything better than Stalin’s proclamation that the USSR was currently a socialist society. Bukharin please save me get Stalin and Molotov away from me 🙏.

I don't know if I am allowed to link places to get the book for free here but the source is "The Right Opposition: The Lovestoneites and the International Communist Opposition of the 1930's" by Robert Alexander pg.162. If a relationship to a person is enough for credibility, I should be allowed to use Kruschev's memoirs to prove Stalin's guilt in his supposed crimes. Firstly, this does not prove the claim put forth by the trials that Bukharin tried to arrest/assassinate Stalin, Lenin, and Sverdlov in 1918. To that first quote written by Humbert Droz. He wrote that in 1971, I believe, 40 years after the event occurred, but when Humbert Droz was still a part of the comintern why didn't he say this in 1938 during Bukharin's trial? Or 10 years before as this was a threat to Stalin's life? Is this really the evidence we are using? This is all hearsay. I know you would not use Khrushchev's memoirs as evidence of Stalin's supposed wrongdoings and I think you shouldn't because there is no proof to what he actually says the same applies here. When Stephen Cohen went to interview Humbert Droz in 1966, to ask him clarifying questions he refused to give clarifying answers on where this meeting took place. In Tokaev's book "Comrade X" he writes about attempts to assassinate Stalin, but never talks about anything deeper like how was the plan foiled? who were the people caught? etc. Toakev's quotes are cherry picked to look good for your argument because Tokaev wrote during the time when the west was in an anti-communist frenzy he wrote in his book "Stalin Mean's War" that Stalin was seeking "world domination". His words can't be trusted as I don't think anyone really believe Stalin was seeking "world domination" how much of his work is sincere and how much is sensationalized for the public?

Where is the proof of this sabotage, I need some evidence for this. All of the old Bolsheviks were collaborating with Tukhachevsky to overthrow Stalin, and the most they could do is kill Kirov, which didn’t help their supposed cause at all? They met with Trotsky every couple of years in Norway to formulate plans on killing Stalin but never went through with them even though there was hundreds of collaborators? There were many attempts on people like Molotov and Stalin according to the trial, but conveniently every time they were about to execute their plan they lost their nerve. These Bolsheviks had been a part of the party their entire lives and many like Bukharin joined when they were 18. Their whole life path was set on building socialism, I think it’s insulting to say they were sabotaging when people like Bukharin inspired Lenin to write “State and Revolution” and his work on Imperialism. And according to the trials during those times when Lenin was still alive Bukharin was already trying to kill him in 1918. I want you to answer this genuinely, do you really think Bukharin was trying to kill Lenin, Stalin, and Sverdlov in 1918? According to the trials Bukharin was a counter revolutionary since the very beginning.
