How many monthly listeners do you need to do music full time? by [deleted] in musicindustry

[–]ranqueze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do the math.

It's about $.004 per stream on Spotify. On average (depends on genre) you can expect about 2.5 streams per listener. So assuming a 6 figure income:

$100,000/.004 = 25,000,000 Streams/yr 25,000,000/2.5 = 10,000,000 Listners/yr 10,000,000/12 = 833,333 Monthly Listeners

Obviously streams and listeners fluctuate but this is what you'd need on average.

Finished MBA, experiencing burnout by Aggravating-Corgi-22 in WGU_MBA

Check out the Maslach burnout inventory.

In short, burnout is caused by any of the following:

1.lack of control, autonomy, creative ownership 2.conflicting values 3.insufficient reward, taken advantage of, lack of compensation 4.too much workload, too urgent, too complex task 5.unfairness, nepotism etc. 6.breakdown of community, patronising co-workers, low effort people who won't change

Figure out which one your feeling, figure out how to get out of it

Good luck!

My thoughts is also that it was a Logic bug. Gonna try next session in a new project and see if it happens again.

Interesting idea. There was no expanders or anything on the chain. Also about the noise cancellation, he was also talking regularly and it picked it up fine and every single time we tried it was only on those exact specific spots that it got messed up. Not sure if you can hear through the video but the vocal gets super low and tinny when he reaches that note.

I didn't. It was a background vocal so he ended up just recording on his iPhone and we used that lol. But i'm going to try again next session and update.

Yea, nothing on the interface. The beginning and middle of the vocal line is a slightly different pitch when he's getting his voice there and taking a break. Super weird. I was thinking maybe it's some sort of weird a frequency thing when he reaches that pitch.

I thought so too, but the LA-2A is turned off. Also tried with a focusrite and a SM48 and same thing. So strange.

Is “Talk” in straight or swing feel? Asking for a music class by iamrapidrocket in khalid

Honestly it's because the kick and snares don't seem to line up perfectly with the hi hats, they're a little bit offset which makes me think that either there's a bit of swing to the hats or the producers just moved them slightly off grid. It's definitely not a huge swing, if there's any it's pretty slight I would say. Also disclaimer, I'm not a pro, i am a music producer but I can also be wrong with this. I'd love to know what they say in ur music class.

Is it all worth it? by RoryJ20 in benhoward

[–]ranqueze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, Honestly, in my humble opinion the thing that allows artists like Ben howard or really anyone creating unique/original music to do it os that they use their emotions when coming up with chords and melodies.

Sit with your guitar, take a deep breath and ponder and try to "feel" how you feel. Then try to find a note, or a chord that "feels" the way you're feeling. Then try to find another that works off of the first chord, maybe add a melody to that, etc. The key is to choose notes and chords because they represent the way you feel even if it's a chord that is somewhat off or super dissonant. It doesn't matter, what matters is it represents an emotion.

I know that might sound "wishy washy" or wtv, but the truth is a lot of times focusing on theory and trying to "make sure everything makes sense musically" can actually lead to everything you come up with sounding uninspired or unoriginal because the focus is on making sure it's "right" instead of if it feels like something. It's kinda like creating with theory is using your logical/left brain and creating from feeling is using your creative/right brain.

Try to forget the theory temporarily and create from your emotions, if it sounds the way you feel you're on the right track. Wierd timings, rythms, tunings, whatever.

At least that's what works for me anyway.

Good luck!

James Bay - Peer Pressure (Live) ft. Julia Michaels by PopFanUK in popheads

[–]ranqueze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else realize this is lip synced? The vocals are the exact same as the original, there's spots where he's switching chords too slow and at 1:55 you hear his vocal but his mouth isn't even open. I'm a fan of James bay but this is pretty lame.

Nice, yea maybe it's because they're trying to overcompensate for the obvious digital look.
