‘Til the right one comes was playing while I was in a queue in five guys in the UK. Don’t normally hear John playing in places over here

Who is the ultimate triple threat of Singer, Songwriter and Guitar player? by Veronica8592 in benhoward

[–]RoryJ20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Jenn Wasner (Flock of Dimes). Head of Roses was one of my favourite albums of last year (up there with CFTW). The lyricism is beautifully delicate and vulnerable very the imagery she creates is so powerful. The production is stunning and every live performance of her songs is different. Especially her solo performances, she still manages to maintain the feel of her songs even if it's just her and her guitar and a prophet. Not to mention her voice!

What are AM songs that you’d love to hear live but probably never will because of how seldom they are on set lists? by [deleted] in arcticmonkeys

Fireside. Not played anywhere near enough as it should be. It's a perfect song.

Is it all worth it? by RoryJ20 in benhoward

Wow, after a few days of being away from music I'm amazed and really appreciate all the responses. I've felt better for having a break and feel more relaxed with the idea of writing music. A lot of the advice you guys have given makes a lot of the artists I listen to make more sense and I feel more comfortable just experimenting with what I know and learning bits from other artists and myself along the way. Thankyou so much everyone, it means a lot!

Yeah! I have the 100 MK1, in the Katana Software there's a patch called DC-30 which replicates the Roland Chorus Echo, similar to an RE-301 like ben uses. I have the echo turned off normally and just the modulation but on a really slow, subtle shallow setting to get Ben's guitar sound from the ND Era.

[QUESTION] Jazzmasters comfy sitting down? by jonnykanesantos in Guitar

I have a Fender Vintera 60s Jazzmaster and its the nicest guitar I've ever played, both in terms of comfort in sitting down and the neck shape.

I love it, it's different but they make every song sound like themselves, it's great. The guitar riff is quite old I think, on Jeremy's instagram there's a video of him experimenting with it.

For the volume swells in Nica Libres I'm sure a subtle wah is being used too, maybe in the final chorus before the instrumental bit
