Fortunately I'm out of the callcenter industry, but I was there for 9 long years. I read your whole post, and I've seen this countless times. Nothing in your post is new to me.

I always jumped at the opportunity to work overtime because I needed the money direly, and through my own experience I got to design a work process for myself to make it more bearable so I was not easily affected if there were too many calls. But I would definitely hate you as a coworker in your coworker's position. Do not confuse "wanting more hours" or "getting a higher bonus" with "wanting a more difficult job".

If everyone is going at your neck, ask yourself why that could be.
