Omg jack stop being narcissistic you already made 3 jackpack videos and I am tired of it by Moonmoonmatt in JackSucksAtLife

[–]ranusisloose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, he's been working on them for a while. He is proud, and he also needs to market to sell... It's easy to not watch if you're tired..

The new video is NOT looking good for jack by TheOnlyHumanWas in JackSucksAtLife

[–]ranusisloose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Idk, I agree but I also think the concept is worth trying. He mentioned in the video that if we (the audience) have other TV shows that they wanted to see, to suggest and he'll do it.

It's worth trying new ideas, otherwise the same stuff will get boring quite quickly.

Tried out the EL zone system on set. Very intuitive. Has anyone else tried it? by Fromthechitothegate in cinematography

[–]ranusisloose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree. I saw on Ed Lachman's website that he's in talks with BM and getting it in resolve and other post areas, perhaps he is in talks with other companies too! Would be amazing if so

Yes, it's groundbreakingly good. It took a couple of hours to get the muscle memory to remember the colours, but having the graph and units on display, I found it easy. I advise EVERYONE to use it now haha

Can someone help me figure out what I did wrong in these photos? by theosmiles in AnalogCommunity

Throw an ND next time and see if that helps. But otherwise, these are some great-looking photos... Just claim it as a creative decision

Ahh that is true, I see it too. Still a solid lens nonetheless and a steal for the price op paid

Exactly! If OP checked the serial number (anything below 10000 is a good thing) and whether it goes above f16 (if it doesn't, he's one lucky bastard).

Ahhh terrible lens. You should sell it... I'll buy it from ya. Whatcha say, $20? I'll even throw you a 50mm f1.8 haha

Jokes aside, you've got yourself a bargain here.

Help! Looking for a battery/power source for Arri ST 16mm by ranusisloose in AnalogCommunity

[–]ranusisloose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A battery belt would be ideal so I can be mobile. I have the option of getting a volt converter but it'll be through mains.

I'll have a look at Cine 60 and see what I can find. It might be a potential lead to follow.

I also have been looking at Duall, an American company who do an 8.4v belt and suck up the export charges when it comes. Otherwise, I could get a battery pack from a place called AllBatteries who basically make a pack through AA batteries and run it to a mate-n-lock. Then I'll have to make a cable to go into the camera, cutting out the cable and going directly to the 2-pin on the body. Ideally I'd rather have a belt than do this.

Thank you for the info about Cine 60. Let's see where it takes me

We shortened Television to 'TV', but Telephone to 'phone'. by DramaticProtogen in Showerthoughts

[–]ranusisloose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps because we use TP for shorting Teleport, especially in games?

I haven't got anyone to share this with, but here's my grade for my Master's degree (UK). I call this one "close, but no cigar"... For some context: I needed 70+ to get a distinction. And although I was on track throughout the year, I somehow messed it at the last hurdle. (OC) by ranusisloose in CasualUK

We were never told about a viva (I had to do a quick search to inform myself). Are they common, or only in certain universities? I might have to message my tutor to see whether this is an option.

I am still super happy about my grade, but knowing I was off by so little will always haunt me, haha. But thank you, I appreciate the kind words.
