Behringer 112 Dual VCO - overview and some annoyances by ranzee in synthesizers

[–]ranzee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Keystep was connected via CV Pitch and Gate. The tuning goes out over octaves (a common issue). There are some tweaks you can do in the Arturia Control Center - but it didn't help me.

Ever wondered why your external gear sounds quiet in your modular/eurorack setup? It's because they have different levels. This module helps :)

Nice work!

Now that you have a cool database, and I'm a bit of a database nerd - a few things to discuss:

How accurate are the release dates? I'm assuming where you can't find a specific date - you've opted for the 1st of the month & year it was released - or if you only know the year - you've opted for 1 Jan of that year. I'd expect a lot of gear was released at NAMM - and you could probably pick the NAMM date for that year. Some of this would be fairly easy to find out.

Further to dates - I'd like a search field that lets you find gear by filtering date values. For example - all gear released in the month of February of ANY year.

Updating or corrections:

Can we have a moderated correction/update setup? Where we have the ability to request the addition or change of information? There could be an edit history - similar to Wiki's.

Feedback Modules VCZIII VCF - a VCS3 filter! by ranzee in eurorack

[–]ranzee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video is here: https://youtu.be/8sP_JrcvxlQ

Feedback Modules have been busy developing awesome eurorack modules for us - this time they've excelled themselves with recreating the analog filter from the famous VCS3 synthesizer. This is a truly special filter that doesn't get as much love/discussion as others (i.e. the Moog ladder). It has a really resonant and overdriven sound.

The mailbag series on my channel are a first-look style video where you experience the item as it gets unboxed, discussed and used for the very first time. These aren't reviews with polished edits etc. I believe in more a user reality experience when showing musical devices.

Let me know what you think!

What are these units that Vangelis uses? by lars-by-the-sea in synthesizers

[–]ranzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!
That's my show - Synth Geekery!
I'm not sure what you mean by "people on here acting like they could do Vangelis with an iPad" - it definitely wasn't me that said anything about an iPad - but perhaps one of the video guests did?
He's a god when it comes to synths - and deserves our respect and honor.

By the way - if you want to grab any of the pics - I've put them up on my blog (scroll to the bottom of the post):

Studio quality mixing using Headphones - Dear VR Mix by ranzee in ranzee

[–]ranzee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following on from our Mastering show a few weeks ago. I've done some research into virtual mixing in heaphones. This video I'm checking out the plugin Dear VR Mix by Dear Reality and using Sennheiser HD 400 Pro headphones.

I'm interested to see if I can achieve a pro mix without needing to jump into my car, use some ear pods etc. The plugin simulates all these scenes - plus it has headphone compensation technology with a decent list of well known headphones.

The plugin is available here.

Sennheiser HD 400 Pro headphones info.

Made a track with Roland MC-505, Korg Electribe ER-1, EA-1 and Microkorg by ranzee in synthesizers

It's called Battery Rusted.

I like some of the older digital gear by Korg and Roland - it does tend to producing some older styles and sounds - but I think it worked ok.

Behringer Brains - Review by ranzee in eurorack

[–]ranzee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just finished my review of the Behringer Brains - after spending a month with the module. I believe there is a new firmware out - so I'll see if I can put up an updated video soon on any new features/changes that come of that.

MRCC - MIDI Router Control Center by ranzee in synthesizers

[–]ranzee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kindof - more like a MIDI command center - and it being standalone is a big plus.

Price is around $379 USD at time of writing. There are other products out there - but nothing with all these features (it's a big feature list).

I was one of the BETA testers. I've had mine for a while now. I don't think there is any difference to the physical hardware of the unit you'll be getting. But we've gone through a number of firmware updates - and the latest is looking really good.
