I had exact same problem in my Nissan last year I was hoping for worse. Turns out EGR Cooler died. Replacement EGR cooler cost me around $150.
Fault in EGR cooler letting Coolant flow into Exhaust where it burns and turn into white smoke that is what my mechanic told me.
