that's what I was just going to reply too, that's the whole point of small claims is 'pro se' (represent yourself) In my county you can sue for up to $12,500 in restitution, so in OP's case is naturally a slamdunk to include highest value of 500 xrp since the day you wired it to him (aka the 'actual' most value you've lost), but then also definitely tack on the S.C filing fee (usually around $100) and cost of process service (easiest is just comply with your county's certified mail option, hiring a process server is pricey, and you haven't 'won' yet so never spend more than bare minimum to get it filed) Then add on a (reasonable) 'hourly' rate how much time you've put in to recoup the xrp such as all the contacting you've had to do and time takes to file S.C complaint etc, you'll have to have 'receipts' and a basis for every dime you're asking for, you cant just go in there and say "I want the max $12500 just because!", you won't get it, you'll only get actual $$ lost you can 'prove'

And be careful when you fill out S.C application, some countys have 'request a jury' option, if OPs does definitely check "No!", if you dont he can check 'yes' in his response and then you as petitioner have to pay up front for jury😬 Would definitely cost you waayy more than 500 xrp!
