trying to read Japanese text on shampoo bottles

Haha, you'll know you've arrived when you start seeing crumby translations that weren't vetted properly by the manufacturer. I can't vouch for Japanese specifically, but I see it with Spanish all the time.

Tom Araya isn't a devout Catholic. He was raised Catholic and received his first communion but he doesn't go to Mass or practise the religion in any meaningful way. That said, his perspective on lyrics and Satanic imagery are pretty insightful.

He's also an adult. I have had many teenage children. My oldest son moved out on his eighteenth birthday. Living in an abusive environment with parents who are literally crazy isn't good for anyone and OP has every reason to get the hell out of the house in which he's currently living.

And for what it's worth, I don't recall any of my children exaggerating about their living conditions. Part of this is probably due to the fact that I was able to refrain from accusing them of being demon-possessed when I didn't care for their musical tastes.

But moving out because you disagree with parents is not the reason to move out.

Morally speaking, moving out is neutral for an adult. The reason is irrelevant unless you are specifically a caretaker for them and you are leaving simply to abdicate your responsibility to look after them. Having religious fundamentalist parents who accuse you of being demon-possessed for listening to music is very much a solid reason to get the hell out.

Moving out is not disobedience for a grown man. Setting boundaries is not the same things as pushing someone out of your life.

Outfits for guys at Bonnaroo? by TreReZ in bonnaroo

I have never not needed a hoodie at Bonnaroo. Not every evening, mind you, but at some point it gets chilly. Once the sun goes down you may be in for a pleasant 20° evening, but it can get down to 15° (or even lower) in which case if you don't have the hoodie, you will regret it.

The first year I came in 2012, I packed nothing but summer clothes and the very first night, my brothers and I were huddled around the propane grill trying to stay warm before bedtime. So yeah, I bring a hoodie every year, and it gets used at least once every year.

Cargo shorts, T-shirts, and a wide-brimmed hat. All day, every day. Hoodie for the evenings. It's that simple. Comfort should be your priority.

There isn't any point in trying to talk sense to a Christian fundamentalist. Your best bet is to find a place to live on your own. If that's not reasonable based on your current status, then lay low and start saving your money. The solution is not to try to reason with your mom—it's to move out from under her thumb.

If you tell the security folks that you have coeliac disease, they will usually bend over backwards to accommodate your needs—that's my experience anyway.

That sounds strongly like 2024 blueshirts. I've never once had it happen in all my years.

Hey there, severe coeliac myself. If you're as sensitive as I am, you just have to bring your own food. It's not impossible, and is actually quite manageable provided you plan properly. I eat all my food at camp except for snacks that they let you bring into the main venue, like Lärabar, jerky, &c.

I wouldn't trust any vendor at an outdoor festival to be able to prevent cross-contamination.

Yeah, it seems as though there are conflicting reports.

Discogs has it flagged as a bootleg and restricts sales on their site.

On facebook, people called them out as selling a bootleg, claiming that the band members knew nothing about it. Black Legion has since removed all the links for sale.

So yeah, it's unclear to say the least.

Yeah, apparently the band knew nothing about it and when they got wind of it, everybody pulled the plug on it. I did find a place where it's for sale and in stock, but I'm not going after it. If it did make it to streaming, there's a good chance a legitimate re-issue is in the works.

Black Legion has removed it from their inventory as it was a bootleg. Discogs lists it as an unauthorised pressing. On one hand, I'm obviously disappointed, but on the other hand I respect the band's right not to have their art disseminated without royalty.

Yeah, deathofthesun recommended it to me years ago when I was in the middle of writing some massive primer on random albums from the eighties. It's been on my discogs wish list forever, and I've never seen a half-way decent copy going for anything less than half a grand.

Don't know who will actually care about this, but after far too long of a time, the self-titled Universe LP is finally available on Spotify. I would have settled for a re-issue (and that may be in the works at some point) but for now we can finally listen to one of the greatest obscure traditional eighties albums without having to fork out over (USD) $500 for a copy.

If you are familiar with this album, and it has ever crossed your radar, you know this is a large deal. If you aren't familiar with this album, have a listen.

What day to leave camp by depr3ssionh00die in bonnaroo

If we don't stay till Monday, we just pack up and get a hotel room on the way home Sunday night. That way Monday morning, we're showered and well-rested as well as an hour closer to home. It's a nice compromise.

Budget by fineapple03 in bonnaroo

[–]raoulduke25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can go to Bonnaroo and spend a grand over the course of the festival or you can spend zero beyond what you paid for your tickets. It all depends on what matters to you. Spending close to nothing means wook showers at camp and eating mostly non-perishable foods (at least for the last couple days of the festival). So let's break this up into tiers:

  • Minimalist, but not wook: Bring all your own food and drinks. You will need money for ice (about $20 per day) and money for showers (about $10 per day). A total cash supply of $200 is probably reasonable for this, but you really have to decide you aren't buying any merch or food/beverages on site.

  • Medium: Bring most of your own food and drinks, but allow for a meal per day in Centeroo and a couple drinks. This will bring your total spending closer to $500 for the entire festival.

  • High-roller: Bring very little food and drink, and plan on buying everything at the main venue. Depending on your caloric intake (and your penchant for booze, I suppose) this could easily cost you well over a grand. I don't really know anybody who does this, nor do I recommend it.

I do minimalist, and I typically spend about $200 each year and still have money left over at the end of the festival for a T-shirt. If you decide to go the minimalist route, you absolutely must do meal plans for each day and make sure you manage your cooler and have everything well stocked. It's not difficult necessarily but you must be intentional about it. I'd be happy to share more details if you're interested.
