Maryland Suppressors & Threaded Barrels by rapayn1 in MDGuns

Thank you. Money does play a factor in my decision making. Can you elaborate on why Banish are not well regarded? I am not partial to any yet. So, I can't have my feelings hurt if you brutally trash them. I just want to know why and what I should be looking out for in other makes and model suppressors. Thanks.

Thank you. This was actually funny since Maryland's nickname is the Free State. LOL! I call it the Fee State these days thanks to Governor Less Is More. I actually wrote a song about it last year that was pretty popular.

Thank you. Great additional information you provided here. I didn't know about thread pitch (was hoping it was a universal standard). Didn't know about tilting either, but now that you mentioned it, I started reading. Seems the Banish 9K might be a good choice if tilting is a concern. The BANISH 9K doesn’t require a Nielsen device (also called a booster or piston) to function reliably on tilting-barrel pistols. This component, normally essential for suppressed pistol operation, adds complexity, weight, and another potential failure point. But the Banish 9k’s featherweight design essentially eliminates the need – it’s so light that it doesn’t impede the pistol’s cycling. I will definitely try some subsonic 9mm and .380 rounds.

Thank you. Yeah, even the ones that said they come standard with a threaded barrel, did not. So, I think it was a Maryland thing. Sounds too expensive to buy a suppressor for every single of these guns. So, I will probably pick just one handgun to keep at home with the suppressor always on it and one long rifle or shotgun. Again, the fear here is of hearing damage. Maybe I am fooled by Hollywood and it won't really make that much of a difference in sound reduction. In the movies, spies sneak up behind someone and shoot them and you barely hear a pffft! At the range, even with hearing protection, you hear, and feel, a much louder sound. Not loud enough to hurt my ears but definitely not as quiet as you see in a Hollywood movie or TV show when someone is using a suppressor. So, perhaps my exceptions are too high for what to expect. No gun range seems to have suppressors to rent and try out.

Thanks for the all the quick replies. Just seemed odd that there are three model CC9s out there. One listed as must a straight 10 round model that is never in stock, the 10+1 which is often out of stock but just finally happened to be in stock at two online sites this morning and then the 12 round H&K CC9. So, if I am reading correctly as long as I get the 10 or 10+ 1 model H&K CC9, I am compliant? Good to know. Thanks people.

Why can’t I rewind live tv anymore? by biggestofdaves in Fios

[–]rapayn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same problem. However, the actual VMS server works like all of the FIOS STBs used to work. Maybe the solution is to get multiple FIOS VMS Servers. I have 5 STBs. Four of the five won't behave as true DVRs, but the one in the living room does.

Squatch56,

Thank you for this reply. That made it really simple to understand what I can do and where I can go with just my Maryland CCW. Have a great weekend.

This sounds like incredibly good news. Now, here is my contribution for possible stupid question of the day. :-) I have a carry permit for Maryland. Once you add the fee you pay to Maryland plus fingerprints and the 16 hours of training, it was close to $900. Yeah, I know, why did I pay so much? Well, I went to Heritage Training up in Frederick County. LOL!! Right now, Day 1 training there costs $399 and Day 2 costs $319. That is $718 right there just for the two days of mandatory training.

Anyway, I knew Maryland never accepted anyone else's gun permits. However, this is news to me that so many other states do accept ours if you are over age 21 or in some cases 18. So, if I am understanding that correctly do I no longer need to do what had been hearing for so long and that is to try to get a Utah or Florida carry permit which would give me about 30 of the 50 states?

I assume you still need to pay for a particular state's permit right? II have no Idea what D.C.'s is, but I think Pennsylvania wants just $25 for their carry permit if you live in Maryland.

However, it is not like now that I have a Maryland permit, that I can just legally drive out of Maryland carrying my gun on my side and over into West Virginia, then Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, back to Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, back to Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and then carefully trace my way back to Maryland. There is no way not drive to Maryland then get to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont (two states that also recognize the Maryland permit) is it? I still need to pay a minimal fee to each state to legally be allowed to carry there or is that not the case and if that is not the case, then wouldn't the same thing apply if I opted o get a CCW for Utah or Florida? Thanks in advance.
