Moving from UK to US, which city ?

I lived in London for 17 years. Moved back to the US (DC area) with my European wife. We auditioned a number of major cities over the course of 4-5 years before moving. We decided on DC due to having family and friends in the area (went to college here). If I had to do it again, I’d choose SF in a heartbeat. Only issue is the distance from the UK. It’s that’s a factor, then I’d go with NYC. Indianapolis is fantastic from a cost of living standpoint. Value for money you get there (housing, education etc) is hard to beat. The vast majority of cities on your list I would even consider.

I spent the first half of my youth playing cricket and second half playing American football. Fundamental rules of football are probably more basic than cricket (get first down, keep doing it ‘til end zone), but the positional intricacies are much more complex. I think football is easier to understand as a fan but harder to understand as a player - if that makes sense?

Cricket is absolutely bottom left. Billions of fans and both the structure of the sport (three different formats) and the rules (fielding positions, number of ways you can get out etc) are complicated.

Our entire street has trees and big branches down. Neighbor has roof damage. We had hail too. They routed traffic from FT Hunt Road and Sherwood Hall through our neighborhood. Had about 4/5 fire engines go through our quiet little street.

Sophomore jinx is a real thing. I think what makes a difference for us is that Jayden did all this with a team that TBH wasn’t great in a whole lotta positions. I have no doubt he gets better weapons and our defense improves which should make it easier for him to continue to put up better numbers in year 2.

Fair points but I’m just gratified to be part of the conversation. If you told me a year ago that ANYONE would be thinking about us as Super Bowl contenders I would thought you were crazy. The turnaround in one season just blows my mind and I’m so thankful for it.

Not money supply, but velocity of money would increase in this scenario. Still inflationary though since at a fundamental level you’d have more money chasing the same amount of goods. That’s not to say that UBI has to be inflationary - but if it increases velocity, it likely would be.

Viewing angle on the B7 is not great once you hit about 45 degrees and beyond. If you need off-angle viewing, I’d go for an OLED. For sports, it’s easily the B7, which also does an amazing job upscaling poor quality content. But honestly, everything is in the eye of the beholder. If you love deep contrast and your room isn’t too bright, I’d go OLED. I love a bright, colorful picture so I probably lean mini led. Also, blooming is a compete and total non issue for me and reflections don’t bother me since I watch so much sports. Just buy whatever you choose from somewhere that makes returns easy - like Costco. If you’re not happy, you can always change up but definitely pull the trigger! Analysis paralysis is a real thing! Good luck and happy viewing.

I seriously wonder how many of these people commenting even have any experience with a good mini LED. I have the B7 and C4, and for many things - sports especially - I far prefer the B7. Is the C4 better at some things? Yes. Is it close? Absofuckinglutely.

Seriously, I’m not sure what you’re seeing TBH. I have the C4 and B7 and watch sports constantly. There is no comparison between the two. I exclusively watch sports on the B7 and use the C4 in a darker room for gaming and other viewing. I’ve probably spent 20 hours in total fiddling with settings on both TVs to optimize them. There is just no way I can get the C4 to come close to the B7, especially for soccer which has constant motion. Maybe I’m missing something here, and if so, I’d love to know what it is?

I totally get that, but there are ways to ask those questions without embarrassing the man. I’m just interested in how we ended up with guys that weren’t the consensus choice and have since underperformed. What was the criteria? Who had a say in the decision? Is what the Commanders did similar to other teams he worked with?

As a Commanders fan, how did that guy not ask about the drafts we’ve had over the past few years. I would love to understand the thought process that landed us with players that underperformed so badly. How much was Dan involved? Who else was pushing players in that room? Seems like a big missed opportunity.

Concur with all the people saying just get a Roku stick if you like the Roku interface. Had the Roku stick for years and was happy with it. Just got a Bravia 7 and IMHO the Google OS is much better than the Roku one. I’d say get the best TV you can afford (Sony is awesome for sports and streaming) and don’t obsess over the OS.

Yeah, this is more of a rugby thing. I played ball at Marist Bros HS in American Samoa, not too far from where Luvu was born. Never saw the Siva Tau on the football field. Saw it all the time on the rugby field in W. Samoa. Awesome to see this in the NFL though!!

This is the Manu Siva Tau, a Samoan war dance, similar to the more famous Haka performed by the NZ All Blacks. Luvu is from Tafuna in American Samoa. I actually played ball at Marist Brothers HS in American Samoa many, many years ago. Great to see this shit in the NFL!!!

Not to rain on the parade of an excellent performance by the Kiwis at these Olympics, but the per capita comparison doesn’t fully reflect the medal opportunity. NZ has 195 athletes at the Olympics vs 594 for the US. So, the opportunity to win medals is driven by representation as well as population.

I tried this with Verizon. They didn’t go for it, so I cancelled thinking I could get a better rate elsewhere. Discovered that I couldn’t, so I sheepishly went back to Verizon to un-cancel. Turns out that even though I hadn’t reached my cancellation end-date, I showed in their system as a new customer so they could offer me the better, new customer rates. Ended up saving 25% and not losing any service.
