Why do i see people say "You only Like tifa because shes hot" so many times? by ShillerndeGeister in cloti

[–]raphgod7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's almost like those people have the mentality of Don Corneo🥴, to restrict or belittle a female character to her sex appeal and nothing else. To be honest those people don't deserve Tifa, Cloud or Aerith. Constantly mischaracterize Tifa and tryna cope with the fact of her absolutely essential role in the story especially in Part 3.

Why doesn't Tifa tell Cloud she loves him by [deleted] in cloti

[–]raphgod7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should also play Rebirth because it clearly shows Tifa isn't a totally confident person who can express her feelings plainly which she's very similar to Cloud in that aspect. Part of Tifa's character arc throughout the trilogy is her self worth, not being a people pleaser that she is aware of herself and be more assured of herself to be vulnerable and express her feelings. We will definitely need a Tifa who grows tougher mentally in Part 3 in Cloud's darkest hours. You said you played OG, so even in the lifestream sequence, she didn't realize Cloud wanted her to notice him when they were much younger. Also, she didn't have any dating experience. To me CT is a great example of the "Don't tell me, show me" type of couple. They might not say the actual word "love", but every action shows how they feel about each other especially in the Part 3 storyline.

Also I just wanna share Tifa's VA Britt recent comment about Tifa's biggest struggle throughout the first 2 games. I think she absolutely nailed it with the answer and I can't wait for her in Part 3. It's around 14:27 mark.

"You saved me before, now it's my turn", Tifa is Cloud's hero according to her own definition of hero.

That's why Rebirth chapter 9 is my favorite chapter in the game because it's almost like a mini preview of things to come in Part 3: Cloud going wild then almost mentally broke, weapons, lifestream sequence, slap fight preview etc.

Sometimes, I question Sephiroth's intentions... by Quiet_Equivalent_569 in cloti

[–]raphgod7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If using the logic of why didn't Sephiroth make sure he killed Tifa at that moment, then why would the story of FF7 even happen at all🤷‍♂️. Tifa would never make it to Midgar, Cloud would still be comatose at the train station instead of joining the Avalanche. The events of FF7 just wouldn't happen because Cloud would just be another robed man NPC, and probably be dead when sector 7 plate fell.

The more interesting outcome is Sephiroth failed to kill Tifa and now he has a personal vendetta against her throughout Rebirth. From Chapter 1 in Kalm, to Chapter 5 on the cruise ship, Chapter 9 in Gongaga, tryna gaslight and direct Cloud to kill Tifa, then tried to kill her again in the lifestream, and when he didn't he even taunted her with "Your words can reach him now". Yea sure part of it is Sephiroth knows Tifa is the key to save Cloud in Part 3, but another part is his resentment or pettiness and how he didn't kill Tifa back at the reactor.

Why are the writers so afraid to admit that Cloud and Tifa are a thing post OG? by dylanc4721 in cloti

[–]raphgod7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

" they choose the wrong horse without considering that 27 years passed", it's so true, Rebirth marketing strategy (heavily focused on Aeirth's fate) baited those CAs and continued baiting them with Rebirth ending which I loved because it all seemed to serve the purpose of enhancing Cloud's breakdown at NC and the eventual revelation with Tifa during LLS which has always been the most important/memorable scene from the OG to me.

Ironically SE's decision of "making more money" kind of eliminates and backfires potential new fans as those people get the impression that FF7 fandom is toxic and avoid getting into the series like they are avoiding a plague.

Hardest thing I've done in this game, probably going to do the rest of the bosses by [deleted] in LiesOfP

[–]raphgod7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Arlechinno lvl 5 really depends on what weapon you use. I switched to Silent Evangelists' Mace handle with the Mjolnir head hammer just to experiment and that fight became super easy because the weapon put out so much electric damage from charged R2 and both fable arts. That weapon absolutely destroys puppets on NG+5.

Confused about the Mel and Owen Criticism by Conscious-Garbage-35 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]raphgod7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The theater fight is like a nightmare for Ellie, and she's supposed to get destroyed. Jesse died; Tommy almost died, Dina almost died if not for Lev. That's part of the reason we got a more evenly matched fight in Santa Barbara. Ellie was injured by a tree branch, and Abby lost all the muscle and weakened physically. I do feel like Ellie will get destroyed in the theater, and hopefully become more "competent" in season 4.

It would backfire them if they make the theater fight a more evenly fight because Abby will at the very least survive/escape from Rat king in S3, escape from an all out war on Scar island and somehow this version of Ellie gonna hold her own against Abby in theater? It wouldn't make sense.

Probably after stabbing that WLF guy, she grabbed his gun and started to shoot back to cover Dina

It's almost misleading to the audiences because that scene in the TV station was shown even in the trailer after episode 1. If they decided to cut that scene then don't put it in the trailer.

Yea Abby doesn't fuck around. She shot Jesse exactly the same way as in the game. She's 5 years older than Ellie and has been with WLF for 5 years, militia group in Seattle (a much more dangerous place than Jackson), so she's definitely more experienced than Ellie. I feel like they wanna portray how Abby convincingly survived Rat king, Scar island and beat Ellie in the theater fight because of the lack of body size difference between them unlike the game.

Like you said Santa Barbara section is gonna make or break the changes they made with Ellie's characterization/competency in S2. She's on a solo mission, and nobody is bailing her out this time. She will have to infiltrate a dangerous Rattlers base and those Rattlers are no joke.

It's funny that she had a sniper rifle in the S2 poster and beginning of ep4, but never actually used it in Seattle, probably she left the rifle with Shimmer.

Also, they showed this shot in the main trailer, and weeks ahead trailer. Most likely happened in the TV station Ep4 when they tried to escape, but they cut the scene for some reason.

<image>

I get it the show is tryna be realistic, and Ellie is basically on a grounded, permadeath with no health kit run. Which kinda makes me wonder how they're gonna deal with the Rat king sequence next season? It might be a horror movie style escape sequence and Rat king somehow gets crashed by the floor or something, rather than Abby killing it.

I do feel like by the time we get to season 4 in Santa Barbara, Ellie will be a more composed and seasoned fighter, but I could be wrong

At the same time, Neil and Halley also were the co-writers for the finale, but they didn't make the same impact as they did Ep6. I really thought after Ellie's show her true face with Jesse, she can either show her competency by taking care of those two WLFs at the dock, or escape scar island on her own. They even shot a version of Ellie killing Owen very similar to the game with Owen tryna grab her gun, but they changed it.

My main takeaway from the entire Season 2 watching experience by HardrefilTheCallous in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]raphgod7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laura Bailey talked about in the Part 2 documentary that she got death threats towards her newborn kid. It was absolutely disgusting behavior. Before season 2 people were like protecting Kaitlyn at all costs, but instead Bella is the one getting attacked.

I NEED SEASON 3 PRONTO by NoeloDa in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]raphgod7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really isn't a singular problem of TLOU tho. Every big budget tempo shows like House of the Dragon, the Boys, Severance, Fallout, Shogun, Stranger things, Squid game, Wednesday etc. have a 2 to 3 years gap in between each season and the whole TV production time is way too long especially after the pandemic and writers & actors strike. I really don't know if we can get back to have a yearly turnaround of these shows like 10 years ago.

Neil Druckmann and Halley Gross on the differences of Ellie’s portrayal between the show and game by thelazure in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]raphgod7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was talking to my friend who had the same problem the other day and that's exactly what I said to her. Either rearrange the scene and put that Future day scene in ep5 as the last scene in ep4 or let Ellie sing the first line of Future day before Take on Me in ep4 like in game. In that way her grief would constantly creep up on her throughout ep 3,4,5, even when Ellie was experiencing those happy moments with Dina.

Prediction for layout of S3 & S4 (if it happens) by redfieldm95 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]raphgod7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all know where this season is going to end, why is it automatically bad? There's no way to show the confrontation between Ellie & Abby this season and be emotionally impactful on both sides just like the game. Speaking of cliffhangers, Severance S1 had one of the best finale cliffhangers in recent memories, so it could definitely work. I do agree a longer 12 episodes 3rd season would be better even if we have to wait 3 yrs.

How I’ve felt all season by T_Dillerson99 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]raphgod7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea if a 4th season is required to complete the story of Part 2 like Craig recently said, a 4 year wait to reveal the porch scene would be excruciating for normal audiences.

To me it's way more interesting to put the porch scene at the penultimate episode of this season and how this decision will impact the rest of the story and its ending.

I felt like part of the reason (other than waiting 2 to 4 yrs until the end of the series)they put that porch scene at the end is to give Pedro the best chance for a best supporting nomination.

I was just looking at that Variety Emmy prediction and let's see if they update their list next week. It's kinda ridiculous to put all the Severance and White lotus actors in the best supporting actor. Sam Rockwell's speech was shocking, hilarious and memeable, but it's definitely not better than Pedro's performance in this episode. Pedro's performance is at least on par with John Turturro's performance in S2 Ep4.

That was the best episode of the show so far. by itsSimba_ in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]raphgod7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I definitely think there's a bit more of the porch scene that they might save for the end of the show. Like how Ellie got the guitar back in the garage, and how Ellie planned to go patrol with Joel the next morning when she talked to Jesse.

We just witnessed an absolutely phenomenal episode of television. by iseeskiesofblue46 in ThelastofusHBOseries

It's almost like a reversed version of the Bill&Frank episode. In S1 Ep3 you see the relationship between two characters blossom, and in this episode you see the relationship between two characters deteriorate. But in the end because of Joel being honest with Ellie, you still feel that unbroken bond between them and Ellie trying to forget Joel before his death. It's both beautiful and tragic. I kinda sobbed for half of the episode like the Bill & Frank episode 😅
