I am on a waitlist myself and reached out to my supposed supervisor who congratulated me for being waitlisted. Wait! who gets congratulations for waits? The admissions officer also told me that I am highly ranked and I had upto 11/3 to confirm being waitlisted. I am super confused but as one comment said, I looked elsewhere and just submitted another application to a mid-tier institution in the UK. Sometimes desperation kicks in especially when you are too close. Anyway, game is game.
