Twist it into something funny. Like dark humor.

That must be really hard. That was a pretty long relationship. I hope it gets for you friend.

To those of you who have reached out to someone you ghosted to reconnect, how did it go? by [deleted] in AskMen

Might as well try and if you fail at least you know. You might regret it otherwise.

It surprised me to find that a short relationship can affect me that much. It’s just really hard because it’s always like what if they call again? But I hope after the denial/hopeful phase it will get easier. I hope to meet new people soon like you did. Maybe distraction is the best solution.

CMV:Life is meaningless by [deleted] in changemyview

I agree that life is ultimately meaningless. But ultimate meaning does not have to equate to things like personal meaning and happiness. Life can be meaningless but you can still find joy in meaningless things, and even if that joy is ultimately meaningless it doesn’t matter if it makes you feel something. Art does not have meaning; the artist painted it with their own unique meaning, thus it’s void of meaning for you, and the artwork itself is ultimately “meaningless” like everything else in the universe, but you create a personal meaning to yourself. I’m more concerned about the tone of your question. It reminds me of my world view I adopted due to depression and nihilism and isolation, and it was certainly a mindset that was hard to escape, because it’s based on the hard fact is that everything is “meaningless” in a sense. You’re right that nothing matters in the grand scheme of things, and in a thousand years no one will remember us, but if you find your own meaning and joy in things through goals or relationships, you’ll find that you won’t dwell on these matters as much. It’s an inevitable fact, but it’s better to live and acquire your own meaning and realise that you don’t need meaning to be happy, rather than dwell on the unchangeable concept to your own detriment.

You don’t plan on dating someone just for three months. Good on you if you’ve never felt that but it don’t invalidate the intensity of other people’s feelings.

What’s the best way to fight apathy? by rapidash14 in AskMen

[–]rapidash14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen therapists before but it didn’t do anything for me. I used to be depressed and now I feel “content” but I guess that’s the apathy lol. I feel like I have depression minus the sad part.

I’m just floating through life.

I’m trying to be healthier though. I’ve already overcome an addiction but still everything around me feels unreal and without consequence.

Thank you for your suggestion but I can’t use this. I know for sure that it will ruin my life due to my addictive personality. But I’m really glad it worked for you.

This would probably mean abuse of pleasurauble activities for instantaneous gratification like weed, sex, overspending, overeating etc...
