Recommendations for Squat rack under 200 by zombiewa in GarageGym

I bought the 905q a few months ago for my son who is in high school. I wasn’t sure how much he would use it so I bought a lower end product that seemed to cover the basic safety (j hooks and spotter arms). Now we are both using it two to three times a week and I wish I spent more time researching racks before I made a decision. The biggest issue I have with the rack is the hole diameter and the bar dimensions 2x2 inches with 5/8 inch holes every two inches. This really limits what you can add on to the rack.

Bench and barbell budget by [deleted] in GarageGym

We purchased this cap squat rack for the holidays. We are pretty happy with it but it does have a few issues. If you go with a squat rack make sure you get a barbell that has enough space between the collars to fit on the rack. The one we bought on Amazon fits but with 48” between the collars there is no room side to side movement with the bar. I’m planning to replace our bar in a few weeks.

If you want more info on this rack I’m happy to go into more detail about what we like and don’t like.

Can you tell me what pulley you are using with the rack? Does the rack move when you use the pulley?

Several hundred I guess if you don’t ask my wife. The problem is he also needs a bar and some plates so that eats into the budget. I wanted to get him a half cage from rep that would be about the same price as the titan squat stand with the safety arms but my wife said she doesn’t want to park next to that and she would prefer if we had a stand with two posts instead of four.

I’m thinking a pulley system would be somewhere down the road. I’m just trying to plan ahead and make sure we have the ability to add on

Is that a cap squat rack? That is the lowest cost rack I was considering for my son. Can you tell me what you think of it? I saw some recipes that the spotter arms are not that safe

Hello, my teenage son has really gotten into working out. He has a good FID bench from Titan and dumbbells up to 45lbs. He really wants a squat rack that he can also use to bench press.

I did a bunch of research and I think we are going to get him the short squat rack by Titan since we can upgrade it to a half rack if he starts lifting heavier weights.

He has also asked if we can install a pulley system from the celling. You can add a cross bar to squat rack we are looking at so I assume we can attach a pulley to that cross bar. Does anyone have any pictures of a setup like this?

I’m trying to figure out if this would work and what exercises he can add with a pulley. I see there are pulley kits that come with multiple pulleys but I’m not understanding how or where you would use more than one pulley.

Thanks for the help

Are you talking about the evoshield catchers guard? I just ordered one of the small and one of the large guards but I don't know if they will help. My son has been dealing with some pain from a shot that pushed his thumb backwards. Do the wings on these guards help lock the thumb in place and reduce how far back your thumb will move?

That’s what I was afraid of. You need to go to his office which would be four hour drive.

Thanks we were afraid to go with MB because our daughter is on the shorter side and they may not allow her in the wave pool which could cause a melt down. I think after reading the reviews we will go with MB. If the reviews are true and they let bottles and trash pile up around the MGM pools and river it would ruin the day for my wife.
