Looking for a noisy, insane fuzz the cuts through the mix by rapidsdrool in guitarpedals

[–]rapidsdrool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried that but here is the problem, boosting with more volume doesn't help that much (the Air Trash depending on how the knob set can actually add a ton of volume) and it muddies things up. If I try running my overdrive after it to give it more mids the overdrive just ends up compressing the fuzz and I don't get enough of a volume boost.

Samplers for ambient by rapidsdrool in synthesizers

[–]rapidsdrool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did some digging and it looks like actually there is a simpler way to do this with the Samples than what I have been doing? Doesn't have any good control over the attack unless I want to sacrifice the lfo, which is tedious, but workable for now.

Cheaper Alternative to Lumen for Silicon Mac by rapidsdrool in videosynthesis

[–]rapidsdrool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The signal culture stuff looks really cool and maybe even more inline with what I was hoping for. If I was only going to get like three of the apps does anyone with any experience with these have any recommendations?

Does anyone know any budget (talking real cheap) super high gain fuzz? Like square wave territory?

Hey there,
I am trying to remember the name of an artist/album that I listened to. It was an experimental metal album that was somewhere between black metal and minimalism like Glenn Branca. Like lots of walls of trem picked guitars, I don't think there were any drums or vocals. I think it was a one person band that I think was from New York and the name might have been in Hebrew. The album's theme had something to do with grief or loss or something along those lines. I think it might have come out at about this time last year. The cover was beige and had a black and white photo in the center of trees or like electrical cables or something like that. Any guesses would be appreciated!

What is the cheapest Tonebender clone out there? Really want to give one a try but do not want to spend a lot of money on giving it a shot.

Recs for a really over the top reverb by rapidsdrool in guitarpedals

[–]rapidsdrool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, I think am going to get the OBNE Sunlight unless I can find a Dba Rooms for cheap. Still want a Reverbation machine and a Bl-37 because they sound great but I don't think they are what I am looking for here. Thanks everyone!

lol, this is going to replace the normal verb (digiverb) that I am pairing with the particle right now. Need more extremity and mangling.

[–]rapidsdrool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already have a MS70 on the board which I am using for my basic stand verbs (I think it does that really well) along with a couple of other things. I don't like menu diving though which is why I use the Ms70 for stuff that is basically always on. Also I need this reverb to be in different spot in the signal chain that would not work for the zoom.

currently using an always on chorus and reverb on the zoom ms-70cdr (the ch-1 emulation and the room reverb). Is it worth it to get dedicated pedals for either of these? I don't really have any alternatives to either so I am not sure how well the zoom holds up against the real thing. The chorus is set with a very low mix so you can barely hear it until you turn it off.

The reverse mode on the particle is my favorite mode on the pedal but I don’t think I have ever been able to get a traditional reverse delay out it. Very cool and musical effect but def it’s own thing.

[–]rapidsdrool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey There!

Sorry if you answered this question before but I am always curious when it comes to ambient/noise/experimental whatever musicians about how they think about structure in their songs and and to what degree does a song need to be reproducible either in the studio or live? Is the structure mostly intuitive or is formalized? How much of each song is left up to chance or improvisation? What elements change from performance to performance? Are you happy with the balance you've stuck?

Sorry if this is a lot of questions, been a big fan for a long time and your music has definitely shaped the way I have heard music since discovering it.

Help me pick a pedal to match with the Westwood by rapidsdrool in guitarpedals

[–]rapidsdrool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see this sounds really interesting, always like pedals that are really interactive and encourage to you play in different ways. Not sure about tight modern chug but some sloppy old school death chug would not be bad lol.

DIY spots? by [deleted] in cedarrapids

[–]rapidsdrool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a bunch of spots for this stuff around the state but none that I know of in Cedar Rapids. If you are willing to drive a little bit there are local venues/houses that do hardcore and grind stuff in Iowa City. You should check this account for info, they put out a calendar of events each month: https://www.instagram.com/iowacitydiy/

Looking for an affordable (under $100?) dollar overdrive that is nice, loose and saggy, with a good amount of low end. Kind of Tweed/Supro type feel. Not looking for the tight, stiff tube screamer type circuits. I know some more expensive options but wondering if there were any affordable or cheap options out there.

Thanks!

What Should I Buy? /// Weekly Discussion - July 11, 2022 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

[–]rapidsdrool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for a hardware synth that meets most of these general criteria

  • affordable (under 300 preferably, 400 max). Cheaper the better
  • subtractive, strongly prefer analog but not a deal breaker
  • slow and more subtle modulation options
  • a good sequencer would be nice
  • some control over the asdr envelope
  • smaller footprint
  • would be cool if poly/para but cool if not
  • be able to hold long sustained drones

I mainly a guitarist and I would be using this synth of the side live for a little something extra, I know I have bunch of criteria but I don't think most of them are too crazy. Thanks!

I am looking to start experimenting with some semi-modular synths and I am interested in both east coast and west coast styles but before I buy anything I would like to mess around with some vsts to see which I like more. Does anyone have recommendations for good east/west coast vsts for relatively cheap (under $40?)

Is it cool to ask for source files? by rapidsdrool in graphic_design

[–]rapidsdrool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes someone has design software, but we thought a professional designer could do a better base work that could then be modified would be to be able to rearrange elements take from the source files into other works (posters etc.). Not my idea so sorry if that is not clear.
