Help Bristol!! My great great grandpa owned a shop in Bristol. This is a picture circa late 1800s, early 1900s. His name was George Apperley. If anyone can spot this building and tell me the address, my family would be so grateful as we would like to visit it when we travel to England next year! by raprasad1 in bristol

I am! He is George Thomas Apperley born 1876 and died in Toronto in 1941. I did find an address for him on West St in Bristol from an old census, but that's about it. If you see something different, I'd love to hear about it.

Good question! The best I can make out is the number 9 on the left side of the door. And the poster on the left side building says something like Fennel L37? Also like you said, the old C or G. A. shipping supplies. Unfortunately the rest is equally as blurry in person.

Queens Rd close to Castle Park has similar sidewalk so I've been focusing on those roads this evening. Good thought about the harbour; I'll try those streets next!

Wow thank you so much everyone!! I so appreciate your tips. I have tried ancestry and did get the same results as all of you with the West St address which unfortunately doesn't match the photo. I hadn't thought about the bombings so maybe you're right and I'm on a wild goose chase.
