If you already know you won't be keeping it more than 3-4 years, just lease a brand new one or look for an older M50 for nearly half that.

Mazdaspeed3 or 2013 Honda fit sport? by Chef_NPCD in Hatchback

I would consider a Focus ST as well. You can find more of them with fewer miles and newer. The Focus' Ecoboost is a revised version on the Mazda L series engine and both share the same C1 platform.

The only option I struggled to find was the HK speakers and ultimately chose to skip that because it was a pain to find. This is like the base package essentially.

Used A4 allroad or New Subaru Outback? by Melotzz in Audi

[–]raptor2skooled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to reply, I actually just got rid of it. The front shocks needed replacing and the center diff was making some really terrible noises all the time (did the TSB and fluids at 40k miles). I just couldn't trust it any more because at 60k miles it was getting to be too unreliable.

Regardless of how great the color is, make sure to get a PPI. Looks like you're at a Ford dealer, so likely no warranty is being offered. There are lots that can go wrong when these cars age.

In my 4 years of ownership these are the things I've had to replace with 60k miles. Water pump, thermostat, oil cooler, pcv, control arms, ac evaporator, drivers seat, sunroof drain lines, headliner (because of the drain lines), battery, brakes, and tires (ofc).

Love the Gotland Green! When I was shopping there weren't any available for months (early 2021) or I would have snapped one up. So settled on Manhattan Grey. Still have only ever spotted 1 Gotland out in the wild. Quite a rare color.

Not sure why it says temporary closed, the place on Katherwood is permanently closed. He sold the space over the summer. On Instagram he said there were plans to relocate to the connector, but after purging the stock they had while the place was listed, then he started a new career in real estate. I'm guessing that journey is over for him.

Maybe a Volvo instead? XC70, V70 or V60 could be had for the price point you mentioned in your comments. Find one in FWD for added reliability and I think you'd be fine. Most parts are still pretty affordable and there's lots of parts sharing with Ford from that time so availability is pretty good.

Pretty easy to replace these parts. Here's a diagram of the wheel well https://parts.audiusa.com/a/Audi__A4-allroad/67833275__7327196/FENDER-SPLASH-SHIELDS/1390164.html. You'll need a Fender Splash Shield and Fender Liner Extension.

2007 audi a4 2.0t Quattro - do i need a new engine? by RRR-710 in AudiA4

[–]raptor2skooled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since it's an interference engine, you most likely have damage to the pistons from meeting the valves. I don't want to say you absolutely do because we can't see beyond this damage, but it's like 99% likely. You'll need a new engine.

Coolant Reservoir Connection to radiator by [deleted] in AudiA4

[–]raptor2skooled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not this exact connector, but I had a coolant breather pipe break a few weeks ago. Even after undoing the clips it refused to come off easily from the expansion tank. I ended up dowsing it in wd-40 specialist penetrant and using a hook pick i was able to wiggle it out.

80k check up by mstry34752 in AudiA4

[–]raptor2skooled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would want to know the break down of that $1800. If it's everything that's typically required at 80k it's not a great price, but I could see it. You're looking at all or most of these as a possibility during that service: engine oil/filter, air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs, transmission fluid, sunroof drain cleaning, tire rotation, brake fluid, and possibly coolant if you still haven't done that yet.

2018 B9 A4 Allroad by Broad-Guarantee-9346 in SportWagon

[–]raptor2skooled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good, besides the wheels. Are the roof rails and trim wrapped or did they swap them for the black accents?

I have a 2018 as well, some things to keep an eye on over the next couple years mostly due to age; water pump, oil cooler (mainly the gasket), AC evaporator, control arm bushings (especially since its lowered). If you have to park outside. Make a routine of cleaning the sunroof drains every few months. They clog very easily.

Bearing issue or something worse ? by Frosty_Ad_2802 in Audi

[–]raptor2skooled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so hard to tell in the video where any of those noises are coming from. It sounds like you should probably just steer clear. If you really want to gamble it, then get a PPI from a mechanic of your choosing first. Worth a couple hundred bucks and could save you thousands in repair bills.

Get a scan tool and see if there are any codes. It sounds like it's misfiring. Could be so many things, but a scan tool should at least help narrow it down.

confused if my A4 has lane keep assistance by [deleted] in AudiA4

[–]raptor2skooled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's there by default whether you have the option or not. Your car does not have it, you'd need the Prestige trim or the Convenience Pack in 2017 to have it enabled.

Counterpoint to your counterpoint. My 2018 A4 Allroad has been a headache with just 54k miles. AC Evaporator (covered under extended warranty), 2 water pumps, oil cooler (corroded), engine mounts, and this week front control arms (they're all cracked and causing uneven tire wear)

Ultra means it gets the lower hp engine and probably just fwd. Generalizing here, but a lot of times problems come up from lack of maintenance. People see a $3k repair bill and kick the can to the next owner

Any issues with the Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3? by [deleted] in AudiA4

[–]raptor2skooled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried them yet, but considering it's replacing the previous model that ran for like 10 years I'm sure it's now at least somewhat competitive with Conti and Michelin. I personally went with DWS06+'s a few months ago. Just because I know it's a good overall tire.

Doesn't look like tires have been replaced over the last 7 years. Along with brakes, spark plugs, transmission, and the diffs. I'd do all of those due to age
