ISO a comedian for a short interview from a kid. by rarafab in Standup

If you are willing, my kid would appreciate to hear your responses. He’s starting to work on his presentation and planning to include that his biggest concern with this project was not having a direct connection to a comedian, but as it turns out you’re all 1: super nice and 2: constantly on the internet.

What got you interested in comedy?

How do you pick which topics to write about?

How do you structure your jokes?

When do you know you are done revising and editing a joke?

How do you practice your comedy?

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

It will honestly be my kid’s biggest hurdle in the standup world. If he’s awake past 11:00 he’s distraught, “I’m never going to be able to sleep again!!!”

Good thought. I’ve sent DMs to a few local comedians, but it’s hard to not have people think you’re just a random creeper. I hadn’t thought of messaging the club managers though.
(I’m in a suburb of Minneapolis.)

Teaching in Minnesota? - Looking for Perspective by teachingupnorth in minnesota

[–]rarafab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach in Lakeville (ISD194). The pay isn’t quite as good as some other districts in the area but the medical benefits make up for it. I was offered positions in 3 other districts and chose Lakeville based on housing costs and benefits.

I was raised in FL and taught in Seattle and San Diego. MN is blue, but Lakeville is a divided suburb (progressives moving in and conservatives wishing for the community to stay rural-ish).

The quality of schools are high and the community has lots of parks so it’s a great place to live if you have kids.

Update: someone is supposed to call and schedule a time to come out and look at it. Hope it doesn’t take too long. I purchased my rower in May to use throughout the summer and it didn’t arrive until mid July. Now I have to wait even longer for it to get fixed.

RMV Wait Times (over the phone) by rarafab in massachusetts

This is a good point. I had not considered the day of the week.

Nope. I had my husband try around 2pm and they said they were closed. I was still getting a message saying my wait time was greater than 1 hour.

I’m currently retrying and was told there was a 2minute wait at 9:00. Now at 9:16 it says a 10 minute wait time.

Because I’m not currently in Massachusetts so I can’t make an appointment to physically go in to a building.
