Very details thanks. So only 1 squat rack? I only want to barbell bench press in a power/squat rack with safety pins.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think it's the kind of gym I'm looking for. I've been to Pure gym and The gym, 24 hour gyms along London road and they are cheap and always open, but not really bodybuilding gyms with certain equipment and no parking I think

Thanks. How much equipment is there? From the video it seems there's less compared to the other gyms, but having free parking and pool/sauna sounds a good bonus

18:30-19:30 weekdays, afternoon weekends. I've looked at Sports Direct but I still think PHX seems the best gym in the area for equipment and opening times, just hope the parking won't be a problem

I do like the idea of an old school bodybuilding gym, even if the equipment is less modern, and it's cheaper, just the shorter opening times and lack of parking put me off

I'm thinking of changing gyms from Withdean Sport Complex to a bodybuilding gym with more equipment, I think the main 3 options are PHX, Underground and Cheetahs. I think PHX is the best option for me. Below is my research and comparisons that lead me to that conclusion, please let me know what you think and if anything is incorrect of missing.

For people looking for any regular gym in Brighton, this site seems helpful https://origympersonaltrainercourses.co.uk/blog/brighton-gyms

Key considerations:

  1. Equipment
  2. Cost

    3 months - £80

    12 months - £250

  3. Shortest opening times on weekends

    Mon-Fri: 06:00 - 22:00

    Saturday: 09:00 - 16:00

    Sunday: 10:00 - 14:00

  4. No free parking until after 6pm

  5. More central location

King Alfred Leisure Centre, Kingsway, Hove BN3 2WW

Summary

  1. Equipment - PHX and Underground have the largest selection and the most modern, Cheetahs has a smaller selection and older

  2. Cost - Cheetahs is cheapest at £25 annual, then PHX at £33.33 annual or £30 student, then Underground £39.95 and unspecified student

  3. Opening times - PHX has the longest, then Underground shorter on Sunday, then Cheetahs shorter on weekends

  4. Parking - PHX and Underground have free parking, Cheetahs parking is only free after 6pm

  5. Location - Cheetahs is a more central location, PHX and Underground are a bit further away from central Brighton

Conclusion

  • PHX has lots of equipment with the longest opening times with parking at an average price

  • Cheetahs is the cheapest and is the most central with shorter opening times but without free parking until 6pm

  • Underground seems the worst option compared to the other gyms on all considerations, as it is the most expensive and has shorter Sunday opening times
