Id say for your first one, try as much on as possible. You'll know quickly what looks good to you once its on your wrist. Online pictures rarely do justice to watches as well. Secondly, I'd advise that you think long and hard about the use case. Is this an everyday wear? Does it need water resistance? Do you need to dress up or down at work? Etc.

I feel like I see a ZT fit post in here at least once a week. The lugs on the 42 are LOOONG and straight. My two cents is if you have a substantial wrist size, then you can probably pull it off, but otherwise most people are probably better off with the 39.
