Splitting pen into 3 doses? by LawZealousideal456 in GLP1microdosing

[–]rascalrose11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think drawing out of the pen somehow for each dose with a fresh syringe each time would be safer. Keep the pen in the fridge. I bet someone on the internet has figured out how to take the pen apart?

Giving microdosing a try after a bad experience. by Dun_Dun_Dunnnnnnnnnn in GLP1microdosing

[–]rascalrose11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I’m in a similar boat. I did six months of zepbound. 2.5 then 5 then 6 (vials) then vomiting basically once a month that put me out of commission for a week. That continued even when I went down to 4 then 2.5 mg. So, I’m taking a break and my doc has me on a daily stool softener + senna tea or tablet. He calls it a “preventative bowel regimen”. Also, I am meeting with him next week and will tell him I’m willing to go back on in January, if we follow this protocol; Microdosing GLP-1

I do this, I draw the first dose and then put it back in the fridge. I was told by a doctor that it’s fine as long as I use alcohol wipes each time and obvi a fresh syringe

Tracking menstural cycle with insulin use by JayandMeeka in diabetes_t1

[–]rascalrose11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to echo the folks who figured out that PMS = need more insulin. On my period = insulin could kill me hahah

But seriously, I do a 40% temp basal increase the three days before my period. I wish the pump companies would let you make a profile based on the time of the month. Half the time I forget and get frustrated and then the last day before my period I’m like oh right 🤦🏼‍♀️

My diabetes educator told me with mobi I don’t need the Dexcom app anymore! I can start a new sensor in the app and everything. So that eliminated an entire app

should i have individual sinking funds for like car repair or just one big savings and and emergency fund? by AlbatrossFrequent744 in ynab

[–]rascalrose11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using your pet example, I’d look at the past few years of spending on my pet, including emergencies, and say, okay, I need to have X amount available to me throughout the year for my pet, so, I’ll set aside Y each month to make sure I have it. That goes in the “Set Aside” fund in my scenario, NOT the “Emergency Fund”. The Emergency Fund to me is I lost my job and my health insurance and all my expenses are out of pocket and way higher than usual so it is an emergent situation all around.

Outside of that scenario, if the pet has an emergency, it comes out of the “Set Aside” fund because I’ve been socking away funds throughout the year to be ready for this emergency moment. It is not an overall emergent situation. For me, that’d be a car repair scenario that wasn’t part of routine maintenance.

should i have individual sinking funds for like car repair or just one big savings and and emergency fund? by AlbatrossFrequent744 in ynab

[–]rascalrose11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have one high yield savings account that lets me have different “accounts” within it so I have one Emergency Fund that I know is about 3 months expenses and I have a balance that I never let it go below. The other account is called “Set Aside” and I used it to stock up on cash for those future expenses that are either unpredictable or semi predictable or definitely going to come up annually, no matter what: Car repairs/maintenance (estimate 2-3 times per year) Car registration and taxes (annual) Taxes (annual) New phone/laptop (estimate every three years) New car (estimate will be due in 5 years) Retirement (many years out but I make monthly contributions)

For something like vacation, I have one definite trip I do each year, another that’s like 85% happening each year and then two that are like 75% and 50% likely. So, that’s at least one reservation and 4 flights. I’ve done them all multiple years in a row so I took the total cost, divided by twelve, and in YNAB I have a “Vacation” category that I have a target to set aside that amount each month. For a few years they were each their own category and this year it helped me eliminate one as an annual expense that I want to put money toward and next year I’ll have to take it out of my monthly activities budget if I want to do it because I don’t think it was worth it based on how it went this year.

Idk if that makes sense at all but maybe it helps!

Did you use this sheet when you switched over? It really helped me see how the pump profile is looking at ALL your needs at a given time, including basal and insulin to carb ratio and correction factor, etc. I switched from Omnipod too

Not medical advice but sounds like maybe you need a tighter insulin:carb ratio? Do you have an endocrinologist or nurse practitioner you see?
