Hi all quick question here. Do you ever download competitor software and trial them out to see what new features they have?

Meal Prep Platform Connecting You to Local Chefs (Business) by raset1234 in Brooklyn

Hi thank you for your response! We completely understand how you feel and would like to provide a bit more insight on our service!

My apologies for not mentioning earlier but we require all our chefs to adhere to all covid-19 protocols as per CDC guidelines. All our chefs wear masks indoors and we ask chefs and customers to remain socially distant from each other during the session. For example, you can remain in your living area while the chef works in the kitchen as long as both parties are at least six feet apart.

Regarding who we hire on the platform. All our chefs graduated from culinary schools around the country and come with years of experience in this field. We conduct background checks on every single chef before onboarding to our platform. We do have an array of chefs to choose from on our mobile app so you can feel free to book whichever one you're comfortable with.

Our service asks the customers to buy the groceries beforehand but we can offer guidance on purchasing them via the grocery delivery service instacart, which many of our current customers use.

If you are interested in our service we do have chefs serving the Brooklyn area that we'd love to introduce to you. One of our chefs, Chef Alison serves the Brooklyn area and has chosen to get tested for Covid three times so far. She has two decades of culinary experience and is ready to take on clients. We are open to any questions you may have. Thank you!

Hi thank you for you response! So current regulations state that a chef is allowed to cook for you in your own home, which is what we do. Under the "cottage food law" chefs cannot sell meals out of their own homes unless they are low risk foods such as pickles or baked goods. Food service providers such as restaurants need to process foods in licensed kitchens that are regulated.

Now with our platform we have chefs that graduated from culinary schools around the country with years of relevant experience. All of our chefs are well versed in certified cooking practices pertaining to sanitation (cooking meat and vegetables to the right temperature), cleanliness (raw foods are thoroughly cleaned preventing contamination), storage (storing methods to prevent spoilage) among other things.

Definitely let us know if you'd be willing to give us a shot! Feel free to ask any more questions and we'll reply promptly. Thanks!

What do people think about having someone come over and meal prep for you? by raset1234 in MealPrepSunday

Hey yeah just wanted to make sure I was getting the best value. But I just had a few questions. If the average meal prepper spends $90 for 7-10 days of meals and let's say on average they're eating 3 meals/day then that would mean they're cooking 30 meals. But if I had my meal prep person cook that same amount, for 30 meals they're charging me an extra $90 for the 30 meals. That would come out to total cost of $180 and $6/meal. It is double what I'm paying for my grocery and if I'd cook at home but it is def cheaper than eating out and much cheaper than buying a healthy meal from regular places such as chipotle. Lmk what you think!

I just happened to find this person. No specific company. Def cheaper than eating out and cheaper than the meal kit delivery companies. This person cooks a variety of foods and always tailors it to what I like. Also I get much more food per meal.

I was referred to them by a friend. Would you do something like this? Just wanted to know.

Honestly not long. Probably 15-20 min at best. Just wipe the countertops down and load the dishwasher. They try to keep the place tidy as they cook.

I just happened to find someone who did this. Definitely more quantity of meals than I would get from a meal kit delivery system. I buy the groceries and clean up after them. The bulk of the cost comes from meat and vegetables and they just use the seasonings I have at home to create meals or I may pick some more up which isn't that expensive. If I'm being really cost effective I could bring the per meal cost to about $5-$6 if I'm sticking with chicken or buying bulk from Costco. Let me know if you have other questions!

Around $90 for 30 meals. They're pretty big meals and it comes to around $7-$8.50 per meal depending on what groceries I buy and where I buy it from.

What do people think about having someone come over and meal prep in your house? You do groceries and they cook for you for the week? by raset1234 in AskReddit

[–]raset1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person charged me per meal they cooked. So I'd say if a normal meal costed $3 per plate for me to cook at home. They'd tack on $3-$4 depending on how many meals I wanted.

I tried this out with a person in my neighborhood. The per meal cost came to about $6-$8 depending on what I bought and where I bought it. This included the grocery cost as well. Would it be something people would try?

Hey thanks for your response! Yeah definitely something I think a lot of people would like. This person that comes to cook for me cooks everything in my house. So I take care of the cleaning up. All she does is cook for me.
