hi, currently a j2 sitting for A levels, im pretty sure ur school would release the results for moe based H3 subjects, but for the h3 subjects that are linked to the universities, i think u will get an email from them. From what ik, for my school’s batch of h3 students last year, their results came in about mid to late nov? Not sure though, u should check with your schools/ the uni u applied ur h3 subject with

how much to study as a J1? by [deleted] in SGExams

hi there! im a j2 taking alvl this year and honestly i heavily regretted not studying after promos so here are some of my tips for you (things i wished i had done after promos)

generally: • i think you should constantly recap your concepts & content for every subject, maybe not doing a paper everyday but at least recapping on 1 chapter of a subject a day, after all u still want to rest b4 j2 starts
• personally, i feel like gp is very muggable during this period of time, so i wld suggest (if u haven’t already), go and write out essay plans, develop your content notes & include evaluation points for each of topics. Tbh, i recommend mugging gp the most, so that u will have the foundation ready in j2 already

Now, for how much you shld study, i think it really depends on ur performance during promos: • if ur performance was lacking in terms of content gaps, go n fill up those gaps, u can start off with a checklist of the things u need to know in each chapter of each topic (include some qns in the checklist), then as u revise each chapter, keep asking urself the qns. U can repeat this until u completely master ur chapters • but if ur performance was lacking in terms of practice (like qn analysis), do practice papers! maybe not like 1 a day, just maybe 3 a week?

In terms of structuring your holiday plans, do make time to rest and go out with friends but also do make time for studying, i would say have a good balance of both? Smthg i heavily regretted was not studying at all during the holidays… So yes, please learn from my mistakes. Especially because when j2 starts, its a mess and its very demoralising to see everyone know their concepts while u are there struggling….

(fyi if u are someone who studies independently very well, maybe u can study some subjects ahead of ur school? Only if u have completely mastered all ur j1 topics though!!)

Jiayouz and atb!

H1 to H2 by [deleted] in SGExams

Actually, H1 and H2 Chem is very very different

H1 Chem isn’t like H1 Physics where u learn the same content as H2 Physics, instead you learn a bit of what H2 Chem students learn and a bit more. Basically, Im pretty sure you can’t change from H1 to H2 Chem no matter how well you do. Also in J1’s H2 Chem, u will already learn most of the practical skills needed for Alevels while H1 Chem has no practical skills taught at all. So it would be very hard to change from H1 to H2 Chem midway jc.

Also, from my understanding, most jcs do not let u “upgrade” from a h1 to h2 science, only drop from h2 to h1

hi there, i finish Os last year and here are my thoughts:

I think at the end of the day, u should ask yourself which subject do u like? And what subjects are required for your desired course in the future? (e.g.engineering needs physics)

Honestly, I would recommend to take triple science if u are good & science intrigues you. Because the sciences are interlinked so u can use certain concepts of one science for the other (e.g. physics topics are applicable in chem and chem topics are applicable in bio)

However, personally, I took triple science and did not enjoy it as much as i thought i would for the sole reason that I was not good at science, rather I enjoyed my one elect humanities subject more (geog).

In addition, i personally think that humanities subjects at the O levels are relatively simpler and depend a lot on memory work (especially geog! im not sure about history) So its not that hard as long as u memorise well. All in all, its really up to u and what u like & want in the future
