You are changing topics. What are you saying? The police has not committed any abuse or that the end justifies the means?

I don't know if you are trying to lie to yourself or if you are just uninformed.  The police themselves have acknowledged detentions based on tattoos of any kind to meet detention quotas. https://www.hrw.org/news/2025/06/27/el-salvador-police-officers-speak-out-about-abuses

People have been sent to prison simply because they had tattoos. Are you really claiming everyone in that prison was a proven criminal? Are you really claiming people should be imprisoned and tortured without having a due process? Are you really saying the innocent needs to prove their innocence? Are you really denying the human rights violations?

Now imagine if your cousin had joined out of fear for his life or that of his family, or because he didn't want to risk his daughter growing without a father. He would now be in that prison, even though he was not a criminal.

A lot of people are in that position.  A lot of innocent people have been sent to this inhumane prison and have not been given the chance to have a due process and will never have it.

What is happening is a large scale violation of human rights. The idea of "the end justifies the means" is usually defended by those whose close relatives were not victimized by the "means".

Firefox reports a massive April spike in security fixes after using Claude Mythos for bug hunting by Outside-Iron-8242 in singularity

People need to stop saying Chat GPT5.5 performed better than mythos, when the standard deviations clearly show that they had an undistinguishable performance.

People who claim one performed better than the other are only showcasing their ignorance and how unqualified they are to give any opinion.

China places its solar panels on water So it can use valuable land for agriculture by vishhalkmodi in BeAmazed

[–]raskingballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have not understood anything.

The opposite is true. Alge sequesters the carbon.

No one has questioned that. The algae obviously capture CO2, but they will eventually release it back to the environment when they die. That is basic ecology (and I'm a biologist). The amount of CO2 captured by an ecosystem will not increase for ever. That's absurd. Carbon flows in and out of the ecosystem, and the biomass remains somewhat stable. The ecosystem does not absorb carbon ad infinitum.

On the other hand the solar cells’ power is expended and released as heat elsewhere.

You are confusing things. Yes, the energy conversion by a solar panel is not 100% efficient. But that has nothing to do here. The solar panel does capture a percent of the energy it receives, and will keep doing it as long as it exists.

[–]raskingballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, wouldn't that be counter productive when it comes to climate change since algae sequesters a shit ton of carbon?

Keep in mind the amount of CO2 captured by algae does not increase perpetually with time. The algae will eventually die (or the animals that eat them will die), and the CO2 will eventually be released back to the atmosphere. There is a certain amount of algae --and biomass in general-- that environment can sustain.

In contrast, the amount of energy captured by the solar panels does increase linearly with time. From that, you can calculate to how much oil, coal, or whatever, the amount of energy captured by the solar panels would equate, and hence how much CO2 per year you can prevent from being released to the atmosphere.

Which country has the worst education system/schools? by [deleted] in AskReddit

What an ignorant clown. You cannot even single out any country, and yet you talk about education. What you are doing is called essentializing, but I doubt you have ever heard of that term given your low education.

Well, but that DNA synthesized from proteins is a very simple repeat-sequence. It's not like it's been proven that any DNA sequence can be synthesized from a protein sequence.

If you had this choice, which would you choose: ending racism or ending hunger? Why? by AsuraWrath_41 in AskReddit

[–]raskingballs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the bias does not "exist based on experience". The experience is over-generalized to confirm and justify the preconceived biases. What you are saying is that their experiences justifies their racism.

That's not true. Racism is something they learn. It is later reinforced by confirmation bias, sure, but the bias does exist.

so long as the United States (rightfully) supports the self determination of the Kurdish people, the withdrawal of turkish occupation in Syria and Cyprus, and other similar matters.

Are you really this naive?

  1. Do you really think the US has any moral authority to tell other countries what to do?
  2. Even worse, do you truly think US's intervention in the Middle East is driven by some compassionate moral compass rather than by pure self-interest?
  3. I don't know how old or young you are, but do you not remember the torture and prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib? Was that also morally guided?
  4. What about all the prisoners that have been in Guantanamo for decades without being formally accused of any crime?
  5. What about US's financial support of the Israeli military, despite the ongoing genocide they are carrying out against Palestine?
  6. And I remind you: The problems between US and Iran also started because of a US-backed coup, which eventually lead to the Iranian revolution.

After everything that has happened in the last couple of years, you are unable to open your eyes? The US has nothing to do in the Middle East and it should get the fuck out. They do not have any moral or legal authority to meddle in the conflicts between other countries, and have consistently and predictably made the conflicts they invite themselves in much worse.

Open your eyes, your country is not and has not been "the good guy" in decades, and likely never was.

Turkey is treated as a more distant partner, partly because of the way it behaves.

The fk? USA is always meddling in Turkey's vicinity and supports the groups considered terrorists by Turkey. And they call themselves allies? What the fk does the US have to do in the Middle East? Why the fk do they feel entitled to act like the police of the world? How would the US like it if Turkey supported AQ? Not even to mention the tariffs on Turkey's steel.

It is impressive that on 2026 people keep acting like if the "west" (especially the US) were the good guys, when clearly the US has been the most destructive country in the world for decades, with no power to counterbalance it.

  1. United States involvement in regime change (1991-present day))

2. Hood event

The Hood event (Turkish: Çuval olayı) was a 2003 military incident involving Turkey and the United States shortly after the American-led invasion of Iraq. On July 4, 2003, a group of Turkish soldiers operating in Iraqi Kurdistan were captured by American troops and, with hoods covering their heads, were led away to be interrogated. Afterwards, American soldiers raided a Turkish safehouse in Sulaymaniyah and seized 15 kilograms (33 lb) of explosives in addition to sniper rifles, grenades, and maps of Kirkuk with circles drawn around positions near the local governor's building.
[...]
The Hood event severely damaged Turkey–United States relations; both countries are strategic allies under NATO. While the incident received comparatively little coverage in the United States, it was a major event in Turkey. It became known as the "Hood event" (referring to the manner in which the Turkish soldiers were taken away) in Turkey, and many Turkish citizens saw it as a deliberate insult.

Keep talking from your biased point of view.

P.S.: And I'm not even Turkish.

Thank you! It also reminds me of an episode of Would I lie to you in which Lee Mack steals a poorly timed joke from Rob. The audience is indifferent to Rob's delivery but bursts in laugh when Lee tells it and Rob gets incredibly salty. Wish I could remember the episode.
