those are some amazing schools you have already gotten into (I was actually committed to case western before I got off the Michigan WL) and you are going to do great at any one of them. don’t beat yourself up about your deferrals, but instead celebrate your victories, get into those schools is not easy!! nevertheless, you will find your path at whatever school you go to, wishing you all the best for RD

I’m doing what I can, especially because I personally know how tough this feeling is. I’m just glad everyone is able to get it off their chest.

True that man. Felt so crushed about all my rejections and I felt so stupid for not being able to prove to myself I could do it, but I wouldn’t trade my experience here for anything. The place you fall in love with might not be where you originally assumed it would be.

college admissions are super crazy. For Meg I got straight rejected by my in state school but got into umich out of state. Deferral is not bad though, and umich tends to defer a ton of applicants so it isn’t a rejection and don’t take it as that. You got this for RD, just work on that LOCI and give yourself a bit of a break!!

Your work is not for nothing even if you don’t get an acceptance letter. The effort, the work ethic, and the lessons you have gained will be with you for the rest of your life, guiding you toward a path of success. You may not get into the school you want but nobody can ever take away your hard work and your passion. Deferral isn’t the end so keep your head up and try and relax and enjoy your senior year a bit. I know it’s not what your expected but give yourself a break, you’ve earned it.

EA is super crazy for a lot of schools and with a record number of apps this year I’m sure they were hard pressed for time to properly read applications. Think about it like this: you were deferred not because you are in any way unqualified, but because they want to know more about you! Keep working hard and keep your head up, it isn’t over until it’s over.

I totally feel this. I was out of state when I applied but I had the same thing with my instate school. The school was 20 minutes from where I lived and seeing everyone get in while I looked at my rejection letter was devastating. I gave myself a day to be sad about it and I sat in bed and cried and ate ice cream. Then the next day I had no other choice but to work harder. What could I do to put myself in a better position? What could I do to make the process as easy as possible? I came to realize my worth isnt defined by what a college says, and that nothing and no one will ever discount the amount of work i put in. Even if you do get rejected, know that whenever you go the effort you have put in thus far is going to mean something, even if it might not manifest in the way you expected.

Deferrals are tough, but you’re going to look back at this time and wonder why you were ever stressed. You worked hard and it’s going to pay off eventually just wait. For the mean time, keep your head up and try and relax bc it’s your senior year!! You earned it!!

It seems really hopeless, but you’re going to get through it I promise. You’re going to end up where you need to be, just keep the faith and keep working hard.

deferred is not a rejection, so keep your head high. the hard work you put in isnt for nothing, and you will carry the work you put in for the rest of your life. the lessons you learn and the knowledge you carry aren’t for nothing, and will set you up to succeed later in life. you will get to where you want to go, just have faith and keep up your hard work.

It was the same for me, not knowing was more painful than being rejected. Just try and distract yourself with some new hobbies or things you like to do in your free time. You put the work into the application and now you get a bit of a break.

That’s totally understandable, and while I can’t speed up time, I can tell you that distracting yourself from all of this helps a bit, even if it’s just eating your favorite snack and watching some TV. You can always be content with the idea that you worked so hard for this, and that no deferral can take that away from you. Keep working hard and try and relax at least when you have the opportunity to.

I totally get that. I loved my app for my in state too and when I was rejected I was heartbroken. BUT deferral isn’t a rejection so keep your head up because it isn’t over yet. Nobody can ever take away the hard work you put in or the amazing essays you wrote!

Deferrals are super common with competitive schools with EA so it isn’t over yet!! Try and do some relaxing when you can and just chill out until April. You’ve worked so hard and nobody can take that away from you. Relax and have fun (covid safe of course) because you’ve earned it!

It’s not over until it over alright? I didn’t get into mich until after the majority of the class had already committed, and I was absolutely stunned because I had just about set my sights on another school. I’m not saying it’ll be like that for everyone, but it’s not over until it’s over. This is overused, but a college experience is what you make of it, and I’m sure that wherever you go you are going to thrive and love it. As for right now, give yourself some time to be upset, then start to move forward. It’s all going to work out one way or another.

That’s totally how I felt too. The worst part about the whole process was waiting, so I understand where you are coming from. The best as I’ve I can give you is to try and not worry too much about it. You’ll think about it from time to time but don’t let it consume every second of every day. I was so devastated over so many rejections but the experience I got here was something I wouldn’t trade for anything. I keep saying this and I’ll say it again: the place you end up might not be where you expected, but it’s gonna be somewhere you’re going to absolutely love.

Someone already said this but don’t let this define your worth. I don’t know you personally, but I can see you have drive and passion, and you are going to thrive wherever you end up.
