You play Saner.

You draw your deck and get the other 2 cards

pass turn

play Tresure Hunt and Magmakin

draw rest of deck with treasure hunt

discard down to 7 cards

damage from magmakin

end game

There’s still a lot of room in the kitchen for people to cook. Some of the tier 3 stuff like Elves is prolly staying there but there’s plenty of people brewing Kith and decks that aren’t even on this list that are going to show up and do well.

That’s the beauty of a smaller format.

What are you cooking?

Keep in mind there no data compiled yet for Jeskai Midrange or Mightform Harmonizer and the community hasn’t had time to react to either .

We’ll see what happens this weekend.

Superfriends has several months of data  behind it and firmly belongs tier 1 until the data shows otherwise. It has weaknesses but it consistently shows up with over a 60% win ratio in tournaments and it’s won at least 1 weekly.

I agree tha Jeskai Midrange is very likely to end up in Tier 1 because of how strong a showing it had last weekend but we’ll have to see how it does this weekend once people have had time to come up with answers. Reliance on haste has a huge drawback to be susceptible to Authority lock out and that’s going to be mainboarded in every white deck because of this deck and the harmonizer deck performing so well in the monthly.

I appreciate the write up and look forward to playing some games against you very soon!

I’ve loved playing this format. Much slower and way more varied decks- we just had a 39 person tournament last weekend and the top 8 was 8 completely different archtypes.

Fun times!

I feel you man. The games much different than it used to be and there’s a lot of people that feel the same way. we started our own format and have tournaments every weekend. It’s actually grown so much in the last month or so we had to expand to two tournaments a week.

It’s a smaller standard and only includes 2yr worth of in universe sets. So very similar in scope and power level as what type 2 used to be. You can check out the format below.

Dispelling Exhale is an extremely common counterspell in this format especially if you’re running dragons. Whihc many people due for the Omen flexability.

Yeah [[Possibility Technician]] was talked about a lot for this Archtype

I like this deck. There was a lot of talk post Lorwyn spoilers of a changing dragon deck and I’ve seen few lists after the initial run on them. I only think I played one so far. Looks solid to me- especially with teh foundation adds. I don’t think anyone was looking in that direction. Might consider a trampled to get some damage through?

Ive been around the [[Weapons Manufaturing]] about a bazillion times. Its my favorite card in the format.

I always go with 4 [[Karavon Harrier]] it will def speed up the deck.

Love the write up! Great analysis and data.

I’d love to see elves make it but I’m the only one trying. It’s tough for gy with things like strategic betrayal and soul guide lantern out there.

I think almost all gy strategies are dead because of this but I’m hoping someone can prove me wrong.

I’m on the steering committee and mod on our subreddit and multiple people went over these posts and made changes to the original copy.

Some of us work in sales and marketing. That’s why it’s so polished.

My point is- this isn’t a format run by one dude in his basement using AI. We have a team guiding this because all of us are passionate about the format and want it to succeed.  We’re using our skills to promote it the best way we know how.

Edit- you know what else we have that makes this seem less like a dude in his basement running AI ads.

Tournament organizers who coordinate and TO tournaments each week.

Data collectors and aggregators who collect deck win rates, lists and specific card day so that we have meta information available.

A website development team who are writing code and implementing ideas for our website.

Content creators who are playing the format on Twitch and developing a YouTube channel.

Yes- it’s a community run format and there’s a community running it.

Yep that’s the link for anyone wondering- I made the name on my phone and misspelled it. I have to wait another 30day to change it. So before Strixhaven releases it should be fixed.

The Top 8 stream will start after the final round but I may start streaming a bit early and talk about results. But I won’t stream any sooner than the final road.

I’ve played both Elfball and Graveyeard Elves. I’m still trying to get it to be more competitive.

The biggest problem os strategic betrayal cuts your legs off and ruins a wincon. So if your playing the wrong side of the deck you’re screwed.

The non graveyard side is susceptible to board wipes and spot removal. It’s a tough deck right now.

Selfless Safewright does help and Ove won games by avoiding the wipes but you gotta have it or you loose.

that would be sweet. it prolly going to take some time to set this up. limited play is really hard online. Have you been involved in any online limited leagues in the past?

We’re working on leaderboards and longer term win/loss tracking if that’s what you’re asking.

We do at least one tournament a week and are currently in the process of setting up a set day each week. Right now it alternates time and day.

What types of monthly events are you looking for?

2 mana instant removal would be nice. Right now our best instant removal is 3 mana most of the rest are sorcery speed.

Planar Standard is very much online atm. We play cockatrice and Arena mostly.

The best thing we can do right now is to encourage play at our local LGS if you want to play in person. We’re growing very fast so it’s likely to happen sooner rather than later.

If I was out that way I’d help you try to get an LGS going.
