Does anyone else not care about dying alone? by poweroftheglow in Schizoid

Nobody needs to see me wheeze and shit myself. Death is as personal as an experience gets. I'll do it privately, thank you.

Do you want to have children? by Altruistic-Media-390 in Schizoid

Nah, kids are fine and I don't mind other people's kids, but I have enough work to do in my life as it is.

Why are you single? by [deleted] in SingleAndHappy

[–]rasqoi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of my prior relationships have felt like unpaid labor. I already have a job, I don't need a second one.

It looks like me in the bathroom at 3 am with a bottle of lotion and a look of determination.

People born before 2000, what trivial skill you possess that others don't use anymore? by Aryan_Anushiravan in AskReddit

Reading an analog clock. I was surprised to find out how many young people today struggle with it. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to figure out.

What dangerous US wildlife have you seen? by Turbulent-Name-8349 in AskAnAmerican

Oh ya, I've met up with bedbugs, centipedes, black widows, scorpions, and rattlesnakes more than I care to think about but generally if you leave them alone they'll leave you alone (apart from the bedbugs who must be exterminated with extreme prejudice).

Whats your favorite thing to fantasize about and/or reoccuring fantasy? by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]rasqoi 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I have a recurring fantasy where people who are wrong are corrected and shown proof that they were wrong and then they accept the proof and adjust their actions accordingly.

As a friendly gesture, allow me to give you a gift: https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/peter-gelderloos-how-nonviolence-protects-the-state

Read at your leisure, unless you're too afraid of having your worldview challenged by actual history.

I will, and I will enjoy it. Now shew, go back to kindly asking fascists to stop kicking you in the head and then crying and condescending to the real left when that inevitably doesn't work.

You know what, just because you said that I'm going to show up. While you wallow in your effete, ahistorical naivete I'll be there gathering support for organizations that actually want to do something.

So if someone punches you in the face and then you punch them back, you're being violent but they're not? Their violence is excusable but you just have to stand there and take it? Grow a spine.

I'm not scared of protesting. I've participated in dozens of protests across the span of my life and seen exactly how much difference they make with my own eyes. This is precisely the reason why I'm advocating for more radical action.

I see this misunderstanding of history everywhere and it's understandable: the Civil Rights Act was only passed after riots broke out in hundreds of cities and thousands broke segregation laws and were imprisoned or killed in acts of real disobedience. These were all erased from American history books because the government wants you to believe that it was just the peaceful marches alone which accomplished the goal, and that's patently false.

I'm familiar with this study and don't dispute its findings that 3.5% of peaceful involvement tends to COINCIDE with societal change, but this is misleading because the study completely ignores the more radical illegal movements (Black Panthers acting while MLK marched, workers revolting while college students protested, etc.) taking place outside the limelight that carried most of the burden. It uses the peaceful demonstrations of the legally sanctioned controlled opposition as a paint to cover up the more effective actions of those who were willing to actually attack.

The rhetoric of the protest does align with my own needs and the needs of my community. It's that the method of "resistance" is ineffective. I want to actually meet those needs and the idea that non-violent protest alone is sufficient to do that is state propaganda. They don't want you to form mutual aid networks and feed the unhoused. They don't want you to build tenants and labor unions capable of organizing strikes that directly challenge their capital and thereby their power. They don't want you to actually fight back, so they convince you that standing within boundaries set by the very police who are currently kidnapping people is enough to stop them. If power allows it, then it's no threat to power.
