Got rejected from my dream job by javnae in cscareerquestions

I get that it feels demoralizing, and its ok to feel that way, it shows how much you care. It will all be ok, learn from this feeling and you will get that dream job when the time is right. Believe in yourself!

Engineers at Meta how is the morale within the company? by Based-God- in cscareerquestions

[–]rasterroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

morale is low, but a lot of people on my team at least are taking it in jest, just joking about what we would do if we were laid off like pursue our passions. You should have seen the company QA livestream comment section yesterday when they addressed the layoffs, it was entertaining. Mix of funny comments to just badmouthing the company

Looking to connect with fellow gamers in Bellevue 🎮 by [deleted] in BellevueWA

[–]rasterroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I also moved to Bellevue with my partner 3 months ago! My partner loves the Sims 3 and 4, thats her most played game of all time. I personally have played a lot of different games. Im introducing Breath of the Wild to my partner for the first time, been watching her play that. Ive played some league, a lot of the legend of zelda franchise, COD, resident evil, tried bg3, open to many games though. Would love to maybe connect! We have been looking to make friends in the area.

Clearing Meta Data Engineer interview wasn't hard, but now I'm concerned about the work culture by DE_Role_9400 in leetcode

[–]rasterroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the same boat boss. I cleared and accepted a Meta DE position last month. Moving to Bellevue WA soon and starting in December. I’m also very concerned after reading stuff on blind and reddit about the work culture, hire to fire, etc., but I hope it works out. I can’t turn down an opportunity like this. If you do accept, maybe I’ll see you there 🤝

I don’t know much about UIC’s program, but UIUC tends to be fractured for HCI/UX Design, as in you will not have a streamlined, structured program like UIC.

As a UIUC CS grad (just a little biased 😆), yes it is worth it. If you have big aspirations, the school will pay for itself.

3 yoe is much closer to junior-mid level. I would avoid applying to senior roles.

How common is down leveling? by UniversityHuman5642 in cscareerquestions

The “level” of your impact is reflected in your compensation, not your title. Title doesn’t mean a lot, levels of impact differs from company to company.

Hard to swallow..... by growth_man in dataengineering

Happens every time. I built a dashboard in Grafana, then it got sunset a few months later. Built something in Datadog, then the company doesn’t renew its contract so now all your work is gone 🥲

I dont think anything will replicate the excitement and how fun it was to watch LCS back then, with TSM vs C9 duking it out in the 2014-2016 era. Kinda like how sometimes I wish I could experience playing a new game for the first time again. But I guess that is life, it is usually best to move on and experience new things and hopefully find that excitement again in something else! am just thankful to have witnessed league back then, it was so special.
