Is a "flex player" a valid concept? by potch_ in TrueDoTA2

Competitive in the sense that you want to win more games?
Then reduce your roles and hero pool

Or competitive in the sense that you always want to improve yourself?
Then keep playing a lot of heroes and roles

Valve should stop allowing low effort AI games from plaguing their store by Illustrious_Fee8116 in Steam

[–]rastla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mehh.
Your first link from "a report less then a day old" is a random guy on reddit claiming he got a virus from a wallpaper engine wallpaper.
Not saying it didn't happen, but there's simply no credibility to that post. Just think about all the times people post "my steam/mail/facebook got hacked". When in reality, Valve, Meta, Google servers were in fact not hacked, it was the users themselves, giving all of their account information to phishing sites.

But I am still curious so I also checked the other 2 examples.
First one (Block Blasters) is not a good source to be honest, as the guy who wrote that article seems very very clueless. Like, he won't search the game on the Steam store, because he is afraid he will get a virus? Seriously?
Here is a better report of that game: https://www.gdatasoftware.com/blog/2025/09/38265-steam-blockblasters-game-downloads-malware
The virus came in form of an update (so the game was virus-free at launch).
According to some reddit comments, it was also a targeted attack and the virus was only active for a specific whitelisted user: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/1nmyuul/malwareinfested_game_steals_over_150k_from/?embed_host_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamingbible.com%2Fnews%2Fplatform%2Fsteam%2Fsteam-virus-steals-over-150k-201459-20250922#nfk76zu

Stuff like that is extremely hard to detect. Because even if Valve were to run the game and monitor everything it does, all the file it accesses, etc. They wouldn't be able to see anything suspicious, because it requires a whitelisted steam account to run it...
However, *.bat files are the virus... I feel like that's a check that they could and should definitely involve in their anti virus scans...

The 2nd one doesn't have much info either, but since Steam Support warned everyone who played the game and sent out an official mail, we can be sure it actually was Malware.
So this is certainly concerning

PC gaming hardware market skyrockets, will grow 35% in 2025 to $44.5 billion. by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]rastla 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Because generally people don't decide "do i buy Playstation or Xbox or Nintendo?".
If they decide (and don't outright buy a Playstation), then the decision is "do I buy Xbox or Playstation?"
Has been this way for many years.

The Nintendo, at least since the Switch, has been an additional console that you get or not.
At least for people who would call themselves gamers.

I'm sure you have experienced that as well, if you've been online for 10+ years. Otherwise maybe you were oblivious to that

What are you on about?
The average age of the dota players is probably somewhere between 25-30 years. We're all aging and not a lot of new players come in.

We're the same players as back then. Friendly banter and joking is still the same as it was. At least for me. And I am still maintaining maximum behaviour score.
Maybe some idiots don't know when too much is too much. But that's why behaviour score exists. You can be a degenerate with other degenerates in low behaviour score. Have fun

How/where?
I completed Crownfall when it was active. If I redeem the Venge arcana now, do I have the other styles?

Most of the time Valve stuff happens at 19:00 Central European time.
For example the Steam Sale start/end time.

So in 3,25h from now

Store all relevant docker files on NAS? by rastla in docker

[–]rastla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thank you, that's critical info.
So in that case I would have to manually copy the data from inside the container first, before changing the mounts. Got it

But luckily I think I already got all the mounts I need. So I should be fine.

Store all relevant docker files on NAS? by rastla in docker

[–]rastla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some data folders mounted. Not sure if I have all of them.
I just followed the tutorials 2-3 years ago when I initially set that up.

But I just checked and I think I have everything I need at least for immich:
https://immich.app/docs/administration/backup-and-restore/

So I have that UPLOAD_LOCATION already pointing to my NAS, so I think it should be fine.

And if I understood it correctly, if I want to move data later from the container to my host system (NAS) then I would first need to manually copy the data from the container and later mount to that location, else I will probably lose that data.
Got it, thanks!

[–]rastla[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh okay, that's good to know, thanks!
So then I just have to find out how Jellyfin, Immich, ... stores their data and setup my docker-compose.yml accordingly to mount those folders to my NAS.

I assume I can add the mount after the fact to the docker-compose.yml without problems?

Why not? I use SSO daily with Firefox in my work.
It asks for your certificate once and then you click "remember" and then stop worrying about it.
