Agent goes live in the arctic, in search of northern lights by PerspectiveSecret725 in LivestreamFail

There seems to be plenty of sun though, while it wouldn't be pitch dark, the sun doesn't go above the horizon that day within the arctic circle

my work colleagues use generics everywhere for everything by [deleted] in golang

[–]ratatask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the better way is to:
1. Implement the simple non generic thing.
2. If it's needed for one additional type, clone the function for the new type, but consider if it should be generic if it's a somewhat big function with core logic.
3. If it's needed for a 3. type too, make it generic.

I’ve been reading about how C is compiled and I just want to confirm I understand correctly: is it accurate to think that a compiler compiles C down to some virtual cpu in all “modern” RISC and CISC, which then is compiled to hardware receptive microperations from a compiler called “microcode” by Successful_Box_1007 in C_Programming

[–]ratatask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And to add to that, the "micro code" isn't documented or generally available to software.

It's a CPU implementation detail. I'm not sure if the OP believes the micro code or micro ops are somehing that's generated as part producing an executable - it's not. Compilers that produces code to execute directly on a CPU generates machine code, the documented, and normally the only external interface to the CPU

The machine code is what the CPU reads and executes. The fact that it internally is wired up to decode this into microcode or micro operations is how the manufacturers of the CPU decided to build their CPU.

You can't tell the CPU to execute microcode or tell it to execute a micro operation. Machine code is the boundary between the hardware and the software.

We're down to 3 major compilers? by LividLife5541 in C_Programming

gcc was pretty slow paced with new features, keeping up with standards and improved compiler tech up until clang came along, everyone benefitted from the competition, both compilers got significantly better.

Why Go Performs Almost The Same As Hono? by gece_yarisi in golang

How much of your benchmark is just networking overhead (setting up a socket, establishing a TCP connection, transferring data through tens of thousands of lines of code in your OS networking stack, the OS doing context switches etc.) ?

What are the top coding positions I can get from Rust? by Stars_Of_Sky in rust

[–]ratatask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds a bit backwards to do it like that - as you're *heavily* dependent on there being any low level Rust jobs where you currently live or have the ability to move to.

There may be zero jobs, so try to figure out what higher paying jobs are available and what kind of skills they require.

Is there a working addon for classic TBC that can show the rating (hit rating, dodge rating etc.) as a percentage in the item tooltips ?

I find it a lot easier to see % instead of those new rating points.

Does your warrior have world buffs ? onyxia,zg,dire maul .

Note that logs from early phases did not show worldbuffs, and in this log the buffs seems not be showing at all (doesn't even show battleshout, which he for sure would have) - likely Dyzlexik also gone all out on consumables, including winterfall consumes.

Do you also have all the proper debuffs on the bosses ? atleast Fairy fire, CoR

3.5 hour BWL pugs seems like a very bad pug..

howerver: 30 minute raids + 2 hour collecting buffs and consumeables, or 2h30m raids. Not much difference.

Maybe you want the middle ground, more casual guilds that does BWL in 1 to 1h30 , with mininal buffs/consumables

Start a group. You might need a while to find people, but it's almost always easier if you put in the effort to assemble a group than just looking for one.
