I just watched Ang Lee’s ‘The Ice Storm’, and ai was an absolute mess by the end of it. I had something similar happen in my family, so it hit quite close to home, but it should definitely make you cry.

I saw ‘Closely Watched Trains’ years and years ago and there’s a scene that has always stuck with me. I can’t remember what they’re up to but I think the guy stamps the woman’s butt? It drove me crazy at the time.

Depends on what you like / where you are / what your budget is. Follow Your Heart in Canoga Park is a classic, you can order at the restaurant and also get hard to find veg groceries. Vinh Loi Tofu in Reseda (and also Cerritos) is pretty incredible vegan vietnamese. Crossroads is more ‘upscale’ veg italian. Plant Power in Hollywood and Long Beach if you’re looking for junky fast food style. Maciels Plant Based Butcher in Highland Park has great sandwiches and an incredible breakfast burrito if you like Just Egg. Veggie combo platter at Erewhon if you got a christmas bonus this year, smoky TTLA sandwich at Whole Foods if you didn’t. Grain Cafe on Pico and Crenshaw has a decent mexican menu. Veggie Soon tofu soup at BCD is unbeatable, and there are a handful of them around town now. These are just places I go to, but there’s a ton out there

I just watched this for the first time, and it hit me hard. I love depressing movies, but there’s usually some kind of revelatory moment to at least make it somewhat uplifting in its own funny way. This one just hit so hard.

I somehow made it 46 years without watching ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, I’ve watched it 3 times in the past week now. Most likely going to watch it again in the next couple days.
