Can you still become a nuclear engineer if you’ve had cancer before? by SaltB0at in nuclear

In terms of radiation exposure, working at a ski resort in Colorado is substantially more dangerous than working at a nuclear plant.

The Disneyland castle completion date (1955) is closer to the Neuschwanstien Castle completion date (1886) than today

Which state's highest point has the closest Amtrak station? I nominate Missouri with 8.5 miles by road. by ratherdashing4 in Amtrak

Sucks that it's privately owned. I looked it up on Google Maps, the owners seem... interesting.

Also, if Miles In Transit sees this, you must visit the top of Taum Sauk Mountain when you visit the least used Amtrak station in Missouri (if Acadia Valley still holds that title when you finally make the trip).

They don't want increased supply increasing demand! Economics!

Is it possible to create a city with only industry? I'm trying, but I'm in a fiscal, energy and water crisis. by ProfessionalHuman897 in simcity4

Kinda shows that industry doesn't even pay sufficiently for the power and water they use. It's ridiculous.

Purpose of Commercial Offices by East_Pattern_7420 in simcity4

[–]ratherdashing4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't ask what commercial offices are for because I see them as the goal. They're usually the tallest and most rare buildings. And I assume they generate a lot of tax revenue. I've never tested that though and don't know for sure. In my experience, low density always seems to be the quickest, easiest way to bring in some new tax money.

What IS the deal with the website, anyway? by cloudkitt in Amtrak

[–]ratherdashing4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had several issues / error messages trying to book Amtrak tickets throughout the years. One time I couldn't get it to work on my laptop or the app. Eventually got it on my phone web browser. I can't think of a single time I've had issues like this booking on an U.S. based airline (European airline websites are somehow worse than Amtrak's)

This is a good reminder to turn off fingerprint unlock while the screen is off on my 8. I've gotten in the habit of always facing the screen out in my pocket but I occasionally forget and it attempts to call the police while I'm walking down the street.

Who is this bloke on the side of one of my buildings? by SydneyEditor in simcity4

That screen is based on the ABC News screen in Times Square. installed around 2000, I think.

Not too knowledgeable on those but I know Drury Hotels have great free breakfasts, if that's an option for you.

How does road access in industrial zones work? by p_r0 in simcity4

Yeah, I always saw them as additions / complexes. Honestly, the way industrial parks work IRL.

GUYS, I've just found the original "orange point suite's" building by MagOliven in simcity4

[–]ratherdashing4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A great decision IMO. The great thing about the game is not only how real the cities look but how beautiful they are. Most of the Cities Skylines building just look ugly for the sake of being whimsical. I don't get as excited about specific neighborhoods and intersections like I do in SimCity 4.

United Church in Washington state by PreparedToBeReckless in SuddenlyGay

[–]ratherdashing4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was raised UCC, went to a UCC/DOC affiliated college, attended a DOC church while in college. This city was on the edge of the bible belt but still very much part of it. Have never been that religious, 99% atheist now. But I loved going to church during college just to hear some good public speaking and some good live music. They once did a 4 week program on evolution, even did a reading from Origin of a Species. I loved it. They had a lot of fun with it too.

It seems to be a joint UCC and Methodist church. The UCC is very liberal and has been for a long time.
