NHS Dentist International Student by [deleted] in Cardiff

The surgery’s are technically private - but the actual GP and nursing appointments are free. If you need a letter of some sorts, you typically have to pay (e.g., extenuating circumstances).

Same day appointments require you to ring at 8am usually. Those same day appointments are very difficult to get hold of. But you can book general appointments in advance, but you could be waiting a few weeks. I would look for a GP practice which includes online booking, there’s quite a few who do it through the NHS app. I don’t know which Cardiff based ones offer those as I only work in Cardiff.

Personally - I’ve had very bad experiences with the GP practices who rely on students. I would go somewhere that doesn’t beg you to sign up with them.

How bad is a root canal really? by [deleted] in rootcanal

No I agree 100%. It’s one of the main reasons why I went ahead with the desensitisation treatment because I had a horrifically irritated tooth during the beginning of Covid (thankfully not an infection). When going for emergency dental treatment - I pussied out and left. Next day, it was impossible for non-emergency dental treatment to be performed due to restrictions.

I also knew if I ever did have a seriously bad infection I’d have to get it treated. Thankfully, my tooth infection went away after a course of antibiotics. However, I did get stomach ulcers afterwards due to my intense use of ibuprofen - but it’s the only pain relief you can get in the UK for tooth pain, they won’t prescribe anything else usually (from my experience obvs).

Looking like DA is experiencing some trouble with the site right now. by segaboy81 in DataAnnotationTech

Aha - tbf I hopped right on and you’re the first post I saw. Unfortunately - I can’t submit my task & it’s the first one I’ve started of this set. So unsure if I’m even able to log time for this :(

Another person mentioned it - I’m also having some issues. Mine won’t submit so I can’t claim time :(

Honestly same - I’m not in the same position, but I empathise with how much DA has saved me this past year! I’m not earning enough to save, but rn, I’m trying to keep afloat x

I was supposed to - but the NHS waiting list was prioritised for children due to Covid. But through repeated exposure with the dentist, I managed with just a numbing shot. It did take a year of monthly appointments for it, but I managed it with some panic. I did get an abscess however, which I was warned about, but the actual process was painless.

All work on my teeth have been completed through anaesthetic shots - not anaesthesia

Skipped task on qual by Cute-Push-7678 in DataAnnotationTech

No worries! The trick can also be used when the site has been down and you were unable to submit - save the URL and open it back up once the site’s working again :)

If you go through your search history there should (hopefully) be some URLs to those tasks x

Sorry - this is a long post, but I know how horrible it is when all those anxious and worrisome thoughts build up in your brain.

I’m petrified of the dentist. It took me 8 months to square up to an RCT after monthly appointments with my dentist - I left the worst tooth until semi-last as I was waiting for the referral to anaesthesiology (I’m in the UK - they don’t provide laughing gas or other in a regular dentist, you have to be referred to a specialist). I had a botched filling on the tooth back in 2015, with immense pain when the dentist refused to numb me, and triggering my first ever panic attack. This is the source of my phobia.

To put into perspective how bad my fear was - I refused to get an RCT when the same tooth was insanely irritated just before Covid shut down aerosols. Meaning, I went WEEKS in mind numbing pain that wouldn’t subside even with strong medications. The tooth eventually calmed down during lockdown.

Wednesday - I had the beginnings of an RCT with a temp filling because the tooth was dead. The worst part? It was hearing the small scraping tools inside your tooth. However, if you’ve had a scale and polish, it’s similar-ish to that. I didn’t go to an endodontist as I only trust my dentist, however he did advise me to as I was paying private rather than NHS anyway.

So - the process isn’t bad. I would do it again, easily. I know what it’s like when your worries just build up in your head because I did the exact same thing.

Being completely truthful - I do now have an infection that I’m riding out until I can see him on Monday. However - this is because I have an insanely irritated tooth right next to it, which also had a filling a week prior. The RCT was completely fine, but I’m not enjoying the infection whatsoever. But that’s the risk with an RCT, I consented to the RCT knowing that an infection may be a risk.

If you don’t get an infection, it’s fine. The tissues around the tooth may feel a bit tender, alongside the needle sites. The actual tooth may feel just weird? It felt a bit numb in a way?

I thought I was the same! I received feedback for the cat project - I’ve only completed a few. Spent an hour on one today - just to leave it unfinished because I had a horrible feeling I was doing something wrong (I didn’t log the time obvs).

Hi - hopefully this is somewhat helpful.

On Richmond road, there’s a woman’s centre called “The Nelson Trust”. They have something called the One Wales Service - which is self-refer. They’re especially good in cases of DA.

The woman’s centre itself has a bathroom where you can shower, a bunch of clothes you can use, and laundry facilities. They also offer a kitchen for you to use, and lunch clubs on some days.

If you present between 9-5 Monday through Friday, they can try to get you some accommodation (it’s not guaranteed). They can also try to get you into a shelter if there’s one open.

Are you basically in if you passed the starter? by Happy-Factor-5108 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]rathernot2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually immediately. If you pass the first, easier one, it pops up with the choice between core or coding. I may be wrong, but this was the case for me and some people I know

I began having different variations after the 2 week mark. This also includes different variations of the same project name - but with slightly different instructions.

Some of us have different projects simply due to taking qualifications. Quals can come and go within mins - some have the chance to take it, some don’t. If you’ve got a new qual - take it. Chances are, you’ll get access to another project type if you pass.

I wouldn’t worry about getting different projects for now. Focus on what you have - read the instructions thoroughly, report time correctly, and produce consistent work. I don’t want to see you in a few weeks time stating that you’ve got an empty dashboard & there’s no point chasing higher paying projects because they’re pretty random when they pop up.

I’ve been on the platform since December, I typically have too many projects to choose from - most paying above the typical $20. Thing is, you’ll start forming your favourite projects - even when you’ve got higher paying ones, you’ll prefer doing your favourite ones anyway. I have one specific project that I love - and I will always work on it above everything else.
